Just thought i'd post a few words about the Tigerlight torch I bought from Lemoneyewash (Cheers mate :biggthump ) I'd seen the videos of them batting them around with baseball bats and throwing them onto the pavement, but took it with a pinch of salt, marketing hype and all that.

Well, after taking it out of the box, I wouldn't be surprised if you really could do it. This thing is built like a tank!! It has to be THE solidest (is that a word? ) torch I have ever handled :D The plastic lense does feel a bit.....plasticky, but then I've never had any problems with maglites and they are plastic as well. Upgrading to a glass lense in the future is a definate possibility. One drawback with the solid all metal contruction is that it can be cold to use in the winter, but a neoprene sleeve trimmed to allow the TL to fit into it's charge will solve that.

Size wise, it's a bit shorter than a 2D Maglite, but a bit fatter all round so it's comfy to hold for any length of time. Having the switch on the back of the torch is taking a bit of getting used to, but it's not a problem and feels reliable and as well made as the rest of the torch.

The first time I took it out into the dark to play with, I was initially a bit dissapointed thinking it wasn't hugely brighter than my 2D Mag on fresh cells. But once I'd gotten my bearings in the dark field, I realised that the trees I was lighting up were about five times further away than the Mag used to get :D The beam quality is so much better as well, a good long distance spot down the middle of a very usable flood. Brightness wise, the brightest torch I have seen to compare it to would be a Gladius and this is substantially brighter. Shining the Gladius out of a bedroom windo onto some garden lights that come on automatically at dusk and they carry on working, shine this beast onto them and they think it's daylight and go out :D

Battery life is reckoned to be about an hour which with rechargeable cells is livable with. A nice option would have been to be easily replace the cell with a charged one so for longer trips you could carry a spare.

All in all, I'm extremely happy with it, it's exactly what I was looking for in a new torch :D

I've been looking for something to replace my 6-cell Dyna-Lite
(which seems to drain batteries even when switched off), and been dithering between the TL and one of the M-series Surefires; your review has made up my mind for me and I'm ordering mine tomorrow-many thanks!

Actually I'd intended to have a look over on CandlePowerForum to see if I could pick up any ideas there but dos'nt seem much point- and I doubt that the TL's price can be beaten. Having been burgled (a disconcerting experience in a studio flat; "I can't imagine how I slept through it, Officer" shuffling in front of the brandy bottle) a dazzling beam could be just the the thing, although I'd better be careful as the Attorney General reminds us that burglars have rights, too. Intend to get mine from OutdoorWorld, when I can locate the Website, although the last I looked they were backordering. Still, it'll give the Visa a chance to cool down. Cheers.

If you're in the UK, you will probably be hard pushed to beat Joe's price at Extreme Outdoor Gear (http://www.extremeoutdoorgear.co.uk) as well as that, OutdoorWorld (http://www.outdoorworld.co.uk/) seems to be under construction

The T/L is great , I got mine an aftermarket lense . This gives you about 11% more output and a huge improvement in quality . Personally , I doubt I'll go any further with mods .

Forgive my ignorance as a newbie, but what exactly is an aftermarket lens?and where can I buy one? I'd hoped to order my T/L by now but there's
been a hiccup in paying by PayPal (their computor apparently won't shake hands with my Visa account) but the delay might work to my advantage if I can increase the output of the torch . Take pity and give me the good word - especially as the same glitch has scuppered my attempts to buy a Scagell folder - anyone else had trouble with PayPal?
Cheers, William.

Ultra Clear Lens UCL..is one aftermarket lens, for example. The standard lenses, plastic or glass, are not always the best as far as light transmission...
