my appetite for manly activities has been whetted by martyn's thread.

just gauging (sp?) the interest in a trip to wales laning, usual intinery: drive, camp, fire, beer, drive.:D all you need is a sense of humour and a 4x4.

never been, but fancy going, i know the laning is good: happy valley, wayfarer etc.

just need to find a campsite that allows fires, or a bunkhouse near a pub, and maybe a wales laning guru.

this is where we stayed last bank holiday august. camping available. they can sort you the lanes etc. no fires allowed on the camp site but if you go as a club they will sort out stuff like hog roasts etc. they even turned the bar into a beach by covering the floor in sand.

lanes are excellent and make sure you do strata florida, although the river crossing may be getting a bit deep now.

I'm up for it, I'm going this weekend(strata florida), but I'd find time in future for sure.

cheers,
Rob

small hint, if you are doing strata florida, which is a fairly long lane, make sure ya have spare tyre and help as it is very sharp stony. one of our group had a heavily treaded tyre sliced right through about half way along the route. it was a good quality mud tyre with 5 layers on the side wall, but was cut like butter.

When you thinking of FbD?

This side of Christmas or after?

I've never been to Welsh Wales, but could prolly manage about 3 nights or so.

i'm easy, thrashed the pajero round a quarry last weekend, and i've got a day trip to the peaks planned for 12 dec, so no rush before xmas, maybe in the new year? work allowing i'm pretty flexible. if no one else is interested in wales i'd be willing to travel north for some grey lanes!

Subject to the date I'd be interested in this. Love Wales and have spent a fair amount of time laning there over the years.

I'd have to check it out, but I think I read that the Wayfarer is closed at the moment. Something about repair work being done.

I was in wales in July and heard it had been blocked, I guess thats the reason then.
