Hi folks

I'm very pleased to announce that the spiritual home of the EMCCU, the Lincolnshire Poacher pub in Nottingham will once again play host to the annual Christmas Dinner.

This year we'll try and make the best of that fallow gap between Yule and Hogmanay, and the Christmas Dinner is booked for the bank holiday on Tuesday 28th December, between Noon and about 6pm. The festive feast served earlier rather than later, as is our norm.

Ring out the bells, and come one and all.

Just thinking, maybe there's 2/3 other London based members would like to fill a car, come up and join you all........?

That date's our wedding anniversary. I could suggest to LOML that we celebrate it with the EMCCU at the Poacher, but there's a thin line between bravery and foolhardiness. Cluck, cluck.

Hmm. My missus has got me basting, peeling neeps, tatties and sprouts etc for Round-Two of Christmas with the family..........think I'll have to leave it till Lumalee's Yorkshire Dales jolly before I am able to meet more of you fine northern folk :(

OK folks, I think I'm going to have to close it there as the Poacher may well have problems both seating and feeding all of us!

Karen the landlady was concerned at 20 people, but as nobody has requested anything other than a traditional Christmas dinner she was OK. I'll call tomorrow and check, but if anyone has a spare turkey it might be wise to bring it!

I've checked with Karen today and there is enough turkey to feed all of us.

Supplies of other options will be limited though, so don't bet on there being alternatives!

There was going to be a rather good raffle as well, folks, but the EMCCU has had to declare war on the Danish Postal Service and employ high powered Danish lawyers to resolve what we shall at this stage cryptically refer to as:

"The Battle to get the Danish Postal Service to allow a Danish knifemaker to post to England the raffle knife prizes and other knives he has made for our EMCCU Christmas Dinner, and attempted to post in full accordance with Danish domestic postal law and the relevant European Union and International postal regulations, but the Danish post office lady was stupidly misinformed but horribly officious and insistent that she was right."

I know that's me being a bit mysterious and vague, but you'll understand the need for keeping things close to my chest in legal terms.

A crate or two of Windhoek, to start..........with Delair Sauvignon Blanc to wash down the turkey later - that's what I'd suggest in preference........sorry, Spannie :D
