The purpose of this notice is to add a note of caution to those running passarounds. I think it prudent that people take as much care as they think reasonable over who should or should not be allowed into a passaround. I would suggest a minimum of 6 months forum activity with a minimum of 200 posts. I would also suggest at the very least you insist on home address, home telephone, mobile and email - maybe even more - it's up to you.
If something does go missing, there is very, very little BritishBlades can do to help. So if you chose to be more relaxed about your enty requirements, then be aware you are takling a bigger risk.
DO NOT be afraid to say to someone "I'm sorry, you dont have adequate forum history for me to be comfortable including you in this passaround". Moderators will support the person running the passaround in this regard. It's up to you to set your entry requirements to a level that makes you comfortable. It's your knife, you set the rules.
DO NOT be lulled into a false sense of security by "contributing member" status. A fiver buys that status for anyone, which is cheap if you are looking to run away with somones knife. A long forum history, a high post count, some reputation points and some trader rating credits all help increase confidence, but this is no guarantee. The final decision is up to you. I would suggest you err on the side of caution.
Always insist on Royal Mail Special Delivery, if nothing else, it can help if a police inquiry is required.
The vast majority of members here have proved themselves exceptionally trustworthy, but you are still taking a risk. Caveat Emptor.
One last point, the passaround of copyrighted material (for example a DVD) is strickly forbidden, unless you get prior, written permission from the owners of the copyright.
Thanks,
Martyn.
