After a successful meet in Sussex with members of the CPF forum, I was wondering if it was possible to get together with some fellow BB forum members in Sussex, or if there are any clubs around here.

One thing that does strike me as possibly awkward is that this is a knife forum. It is one thing to go to a pub and light up the room with torches, it would be another to whip out a case of knives. How would you do this, arrange for a private room or other arrangement with the pub owner?

The first hurdle of course is to see if anyone else is interested in meeting up.

I am based in Hove.

........it's Hove-Actually, isn't it ;)

We are having our first pub meet.........if you're going to pull out sharps, for us in London, it has to be a private room.......

As it's a first, as far as I know, I asked Danzo if we could call ourselves London & South East Cutlers & Collectors Association (Danzo and his merry men are East Midlands Cutlers & Collectors Union) ........it is simply so we come across as a 'club' of decent professional chaps - rather than saying, "oh, yeah, we're just a bunch o' blokes that like collecting knives and stuff..........."

I don't know how many people you'll get together in your neck o' the woods, but you are very welcome to come up and join us on 06th March too............ :)

Actually it is Hove-Actually :-) but talk about a mouthful, as officially I live in the 'City of Brighton and Hove' where the added the population of Hove to Brighton and it was enough to be classed as a City even though there is no cathedral.

I saw there was a London meet. I tend to avoid coming into London these days, despite growing up in Greenford, as I escaped to the coast.

One thing that would worry me is carrying a bag or case full of knives. If I am able to come on 6th March (is this confirmed yet?) I might need to use public transport. What would happen if I was stopped, is a pre-arranged meeting sufficiently good cause? Saying that I also have some items for which there is no good legal reason to have in a pubilc place, despite being legal to own, which I might want to bring.

There's a few coming by public transport.

I guess you have to take logic precautions and store whatever sharps you bring in a secure briefcase or bag - mine'll be in the knife-roll inside a very good attache-case type thing.

The meeting is a booked affair and they have our name down - the LSECCA - so, yes, the meeting is legit.

Putney, by the river, is not really 'London'..........there's tidal water right next to us, you'll still feel at home........

Putney is very London, and more London than Greenford was. However I am still tempted. I'll chirp up on that thread as a maybe.

The trouble is, the more secure you make the way you transport them, the more obvious it becomes that you are carrying something valuable.

As an FAC and SGC holder plus various security clearances that I have for work, the last thing I need is to be had for any kind of offensive weapon charge. Will need to think carefully about this....
