Hi All

Can anyone recommend a whipping thread for securely whipping a crooked knife blade to the handle please.

How about bowstring thread or bowstring serving thread, both are thin but incredibly strong. The serving thread protects the bowstring against wear from the arrow nock so might suit your purpose better. I've got both in brown, let me know if you'd like me to send you some of each to try.

nyltex waxed thread is what I use - ends up looking exactly like those old fashioned potato peeler handles. Very grippy. Pretty much any thin strong cord will work though. Linen is good - expecially if its waxed.

What about some waxed nylon thread, the sort of stuff that looks like sinew? Incredibly strong and would give you a rustic look as well.

Try a chandlers, you can normally get Marlow, or other makes, of whipping twine from them.

Soak in epoxy resin for added strength and permanence.

This is a good tip, but it doesn't have to be epoxy. Almost any glue will do - PVA works quite well if you are using a non-synthetic string, because it soaks well into the string. Once it sets, the whipping will be like rock.
