its here my new whizzy kydex/concelex sheath as made by our very own zdp-189 :D
as some of you may be aware i was having issues with the second pattern leather sheath, not holding the blade securely so i placed a post asking 4 sugetions, as i,d done all i could think off including absolutely saturating the leather and sticking it in the tumble dryer for a couple of hours :!: it did fit better after this abuse but not enough 4 me to trust it (and us recently divorced ain't the trusting kind :] )
anyway the woods near me have plenty of challenging terrain as it basically one mahoosive tree covered hill, so as im forever jumping climbing (and falling!!) over fallen trees roots and foliage, i couldn't risk the knife being lost or impaling myself.
enter the ever efficient ZDP-189
i posted my query at 12.30pm and 15 short hours later he,d made it  :X 8)
as it still had prototype status he offered it to me at a very reasonable price, i cant over state what a difference this sheath has made i can now use the knife without fear of losing it :D
so on to the sheath
to start with its very well made, looks like it could survive the end of the world, without being bulky or over engineered like so much yankee stuff is, its slim and comfortable and you could forget it,s there, as for the finish its hardly in keeping with most peoples ideas of a "prototype" it is ... well "finished"
now those of you with northstars will know theres precious little for the sheath to acctualy grip on to  . so i figured that you would have to do something pretty elaborate to get it to work, and sure enough it is, the only way he could get the sheath to retain the knife was to engineer someway for the blades ricasso to bite into a block of softish plastic , and im happy to say that this out of the box thinking has worked really really well, the northstar is very securely held in place and takes quite a effort to pull it free, and yet the operation is still smooth and relatively quite (although after years of quick bikes im deaf as driftwood anyway :D ).
so i took it down the woods this weekend, NOT one problem the sheath performed faultlessly :) .
so to all who wana make there northstars even more usable i,d make mr zdp first on your list of contacts.
p,s please be gentle its my first proper review so honest criticism welcome :C what am i saying
