Sorry for the short notice!

I have decided to hold an EMCCU meet-up on the 17th September in Sheffield. I am hoping for the Fat Cat (it's easy to get to) but I'll have to confirm...I only thought of it in the shower this morning, so I'm making it up as I go along. I'm sure the Rising Sun pub next to my workshop will be delighted to have us again if there's a problem with the Fat Cat.

I've just seen that Midland Game fair is on the 17th and Andy's trying to organise a pub meet-up for Sept anyway...

I might have to rethink my strategy....

I've only got Ed for this weekend. We could still do a meetup or go to the Midland Game Fair.

I get into Manchester at about 11:30 AM and will take the train to Sheffield, I hope to be at the gathering by 2-2:30 PM. I'm looking forward to the gathering and have some Spyderco offering and some of my own for offerings to the attendees. I'm looking forward to the event...Take Care...Ed

I was working on the assumption that I could pick you up from the railway station and whisk you up there before you realised that was what I was doing! I reckon you've got a couple of drinks in you before you pass out from exhaustion and jetlag...!:D

Very sorry that I can't make this. I'm working away from home for the following 2 weeks so LOML will need some David time. I did offer to bring her along, but that was a non-starter. It would be great to meet you Ed and I always enjoy meeting fellow BBers. Not this time though.

Just have a great meet-up.

Fat Cat big? Well, in the bar there's barely enough room to swing the proverbial. Used to live in Sheff once upon a time, Fat Cat was one of my favourite haunts, shame I'm skinter than a skint thing in skintsville or I'd find a way of popping over and joining you. Have fun guys.

Historically, Fat Cat Meet-ups have had a tendency to have a surprise increase in number resulting in the BB equivilant of 'Sardines' - do not let that put you off if youre thinking of popping in though (we like a good game of pub sardines!!)...this one should be perfect. We're in the upstairs room.

If enough turn up could we not use the new building outside?

:happy23:We're having a raffle...we're having a raffle:banana: (what more do folks need for entertainment? :D For the unintiated, if I can persuade my trusty assistant, Guycep, to turn up then we will have the world reknown 'two hat tombola'...if, not, then Andy will probably be called upon as the only reliably sober person to run a super efficient raffle...)

Hard to come by in Sheffield, especially on a Saturday. We had to make do with an effeminate looking goth.

Nice meeting Ed, a true gentleman. :happy72:

Good turn out, good beer, good food, good company.

Pretty good afternoon all together. :D

Great afternoon in a wicked pub. Brilliant to meet Ed and look at one of his own knives - critique on my knife - and some top knifemaking tips too.

Best bit though was winning one of his donated 'balance' knives in the raffle:banana:

That was a really good day.

Big thanks to all, especially to Mr Schempp who arrived after a flight from the USA, a train journey from London, a cab ride from Sheffield station and yet was still the most charming and interesting company as one could wish to meet anywhere.

Personal thanks to Jim for the knife, and Grace and Miranda for their work in making it such an enjoyable day.

I worked there briefly in the 80's, soon learned to keep my mouth shut. :D
