Tha's on Jean-Marc's site, read it the other day (I think he posted a link somewhere.. yup, here it is (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1252) ...the first one), piqued my interest no end. Looks very nice indeed.
The number 6 is very pretty. I like the maple.
Actually they are all good (http://www.geocities.com/porchswings/moreknives.htm)
That number 4 with cocobolo scales is a bargain at 100 bucks.

The whole range look really good and at reasonable prices compared to some handmade knives in this country.
Does anyone know how long delivery would be or what customs would charge to import into the UK?
I've been in contact with Gene about a modified No.6
He says he's kept busy up untill febuary, with it being hunting season n all.

Yup, liked it very much. Well written and very informative, thanks Chad - well done. ;)
tenbears, shipping varies, but usually around the $20-$30 mark, VAT is 17.5%, duty is about 8% I think, in addition, you can get smacked with courier fees depending on the shipping method.
Best way is to request the maker to use USPS, this is the US equivalent of airmal parcel post. Pretty much all the other shipping methods use couriers and are contactually obliged to submit a value for VAT/Duty. USPS is a lottery. Sometimes you get hit for VAT, sometimes you dont. I dont know what rhyme or reason the PO use to determine what does or doesn't get charged, but it does seem random. Remeber though, if it's not insured, you loose the knife if it goes missing. The maker may insist on insurance - I would.
This means on a $200 knife, expect to pay at least $20 shipping, but you could pay upto another $80 or more for shipping, VAT/duty, insurance & courier charges. This is why UK retailers often sell for £ to $ equivalents. ....and believe it or not, the strong pound means that imports are cheaper now than ever.
I've go a large drop point due on the 6th of Feb :biggthump

Wow, you gyus get really hammered. It seems that perhaps a barter system might work better. Find a friend in the States, send him a gift of a knife, and have him send a gift of the knife you want in return.
I have shipped a couple packages to the UK, and it is far more expensive to ship there than to other palces in Europe. I have shipped to France a much bigger package at half the price.

Good review Chad, I'm sure I've seen it before, didn't you post a link to it from the old Survival forum in KF? If not maybe you reviewed another knife, I'm forgetful :D

Hi Roger,
Must have been another knife. I left KFC about six months before I got this knife.
Thanks,
Chad

Yep, but they fired me before I learned the secret recipe. Seems I ate to much free chicken. Lots of biscuits too.
