Looking for a good quality yorkshire pattern billhook, preferably with a makers stamp - something like Elwell, Gelpin or Nash. Prepared to pay a generous amount for the right thing.

Unfortunately there arnt any yorkshire pattern billhooks on ebay, the only one currently for sale ends in a few hours and has just gone out of my price range.

Unfortunately I think he sold that one pretty quickly. Worth asking him though

Thanks for the link but I dont like the one being sold by BTCV I'd much prefer to have an older higher quality steel one.

I've seen these in antique markets , @ £10-£20, saw some in Ely a couple of weeks ago.

Woodland Organics usually sell hooks by Morris of Dusford, they are new but do compare favorably with some of the older hooks I have so don't be put off.

Ebay is definitely the best place for vintage hooks.

Email them, they have shifted from retail to wholesale but have found a few bits and bobs and sold them off here and on BCUK over the last few months so you might strike lucky. Jack shold be able to point you to a supplier and my Staffie hook from him is as good as my ancient cast steel staffie
