View Full Version : Great, Chesterfield meet up
First off, let me thank everyone that put the work into setting up this meeting. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone... Please accept my apologise as I am terrible with names and faces. Grace, the work you showed was WOW, please post pictures and details, as I think many members of BB will be interested. Shing, don't forget the 3D modelling stuff. Guy's, next time I will pawn the family silver, and sell the deeds to the house, so many toys. Can't wait for the next one.

It was great seeing all the new and old faces again! Loads of knives to see and a bunch of very supportive people. Found out a lot about 3D modelling, water jet and laser cutting. Rogan-J organised a good meeting and buffet. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Yep,
Had a great time meeting up with old freids and finding some new. Grace, I want to see that broach you told me and Danzo about, hope you and it will be along to the next one.
On the subject of the next one loads of folks told me they liked the idea of one here in Wirksworth so I'll see what I can do for late Feb time.
Cheers

For my part as the organiser can I say a big thank you to everyone who attended. I really enjoyed the day and if you all did as well then that makes me a happy chap, you should all give yourselves a pat on the back you are a credit to the EMCCU and yourselves. I look forward to any future meetings or any old excuse to get out for a pint with you guys.:biggthump:

Another great meet-up
- Lots of things, both sharp and bright, to see, touch and play with
- Lots of friendly conversation - and some strange conversations as the day wore on!
- Several new faces to put to screen names
- A few deals done....
Special mentions to
- Grace Horne - Sorry again that I stood you up in Paris, glad to finaly meet you, and please show the rest of BB that amazing metal
- APG1961 - Please post some pictures of your wonderfull knives, and next time you're giving them to your relations remember that I'm now your cousin!
Last but certainly not least a huge thank-you to Rogan-J for his organisation, a friendly venue, and a great buffet.
See you all at the next one!
Great to see so many of the crowd from the last Sheffield meetup and some fine new folk too. We really enjoyed the day - well worth the expedition across the Pennines.
Cheers to everyone for making Sally welcome. She had a fine time so I rather think I'm going to have someone reading BB over my shoulder from now on...
Clearly one thing missing from the school curriculum is "how to make sure daddy wins the raffle" :D but she on the other hand is well chuffed with her new Opinel No.8. It will be an ideal beginning bushcraft knife - thanks Danzo, you old softie :P
I did grab a few pics - of boring hardware rather than interesting people - but I'll post a couple up shortly. Hopefully Mark got the pics of The General demonstrating the Jedii art of sharpening. Watch and learn people !
Thanks Rogan, a good day.
Look forward to seeing the pics - wish I could have made it :D

First of all I would like to say what a great meet up it was today. For my first experiance of a knife meet up, it was fantastic to meet such a friendly bunch of like minded individules.
It was a great opertunity to put faces to screen names and meet up with Shing and One-Rod (Mick) again.
ALL the custom made knives were a credit to the makers and it was fantastic to be able to handle some great factory knives too.
A real big bonus was winning the Shing folder in the raffle:D :D :D , and it's not true that my ticket was stuck to shaun's finger:lol:  even if we both come from Chesterfield..First time EVER won aything in a raffle.
I'm allready looking forward to the next meet up and think Wirksworth would be a great venue. I can see this getting bigger with each meetup and a much larger venue should be looked into.
Shaun, you did a great job organising this one :happy65: :happy65:

Great meet up folks, excellent turn-out! Was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Lots of lovely knives and a warm, friendly atmosphere, thanks again to Shaun for organising it all. Must get myself a Shing folder...beautiful bit of work.
Looking forward to the next one already! :D :D :D

Great fun good to meet everyone as well though I am terrible with names so now I have lots of faces to put to names but I can't remember half of those that go together
Saw some very nice pointy things as well as getting to handle a strider and sebenza so now I can say they are uncomphy for me from holding them rather than just looking at pics :)
Looking forward to the next one now to work out where Wicksworth is lol

Wirksworth,
Stick a pin in a map about half way between Chesterfield and Derby and you will be fairly close!

:Grumble Grumble Grumble:
Typical, I missed yet another meet-up due to bad timing. The only weekend in November I wasn't available :(
Still, sounds like a good time was had, Danzo and The General have drunk the East Midlands dry and some lucky devil has won a Shing knife!
But, I was in the New Forest taking pictures in the frost so it wasn't as if I was sitting at home sulking....
I'll be at the next one

It was cool to go, but I must apologise for my first hour or so... I was feeling "a little worse for wear" so I was unable to mix a lot till the room stopped spinning!
Your great guys and its a real shame the venue was so cramped. I did not get the chance to see half the stuff as a result and my toys were not noticed until people started leaving:(
We must have a larger room next time so I can have a chair, table and pint glass all to myself!:D
Pictures are coming. Sorry for the delay. :(
Mark
I can't remember who showed me the Farid knife but they might try to get it coated with Gunkote to protect it from rust.

Nice meeting all the old and new faces, lots to see and talk about, and a couple of good deals done from my point of view.
Big thanks to Shaun for the organisation, the friendly staff of the Victoria Inn for the welcome and all who attended.
I'm looking forwards to Wirksworth already!
Danzo
.....and before I forget thanks to Cones for the great pictures of Zackertys Pig on his site. It's the big scary pointy one with a lanyard.

No pictures of Grace:S
I'd just like to thank Rogan J for not only organising the meet up but giving me some of the best directions I've ever been given for helping me get to the pub from the station, it made the journey much less stressful.
Sadly I didn't get to buy anything at the time but maybe I can change that at the next one

Haven't been online for ages and completely missed out on this - very annoying. One day, when I'm old and grey, I'll have broadband and be online more.
When's the next one? :D
Could everyone check their stuff and see if they have my Al Mar Ultralight folder? It has a very thin flat black box. Not much of my stuff got out so I hope someone has got it lurking amongst their own goodies!

Ah, and know it is fallen to Guycep, son of Bycep, son of Trycep, now carrier of the blade called Skirmish, or Spyderco's Bane, once carried by Lord Danzo the Bedrunk, to carry the battle to Mordors spawn, for we are sick with wounds, and drink, and mainly drink......

Ah, Shelobs Flying Brethren may smite the heart even of the Old Commander from the Western Ports......the Western Ports, from which the Faerie folk flee back from their sad task of Dryvwae Tarmackinn, which although provides them with much gold, distresses the poor and eldren races of Middle Earth and has them call for the Faerie Folk of the Western Isle to move their 'hobbit holes on carts' back to the Western Isle or they may just call on Mordors Winged Riders to burn the Faerie Folk out.
