DC4 is probably more usefull regards to size but make sure to email the seller of your DC4 to check the cermanic side to make sure it isn't concave and covered in blade damaging bumps! Mine came like this and fallkniven were most unhelpful!

Have a look at the spyderco double stuff. I've heard alot of great things about it and will be buying one sometime this week!

I'd go with the larger - it's tiny as it is.

They have a habit of separating too due to the crap gluing they do between the ceramic and diamond sides. But, the DC4 plus smurf pooh strop has given me my first mirror edges.

What sort of knives is it for? Does it need to be easily carried?
I'd usually go for larger stones, though DMT diafolds come in handy and they're pretty small.

Mainly going to be used on folders, and easy carry would be good .

A red and green dmt duo-fold is what I use for all my folders, large and small, followed by a loaded strop. My DC3, DC4 and sharpmaker plus various bench stones just don't get used for the folders, too much hassle, a few wipes on both sides of the duo-fold and you're done :)

Cheers, Paul

I hear the dmt sharpeners are really nice. How long do they alst? someone told me they've had one and used it every day for years and they still work well.

I'd go for red green diafold, a Sharpie and a strop.

I've got DMTs that are 10 years old and still cut- dont use them everyday but I've had my money's worth.

Out of the DC3 and 4, get the 4. Longer sharpener means you can sharpen longer blades too.

But since I've been using my DMT diafold I've sold my DC4. The DMT is still really compact and I get a keener edge from it.
So I'd recommend a fine/ultra-fine DMT diafold and a small strop with starkie blue.

edit: I also use a few drops of water on the DMT as recommended. Cuts better that way I think. They also promise that the hones stay flat for a long time. There was a dealer on ebay that sells them cheaper than most online retailers.
