Picked up a small axe/hatchet this weekend from a mate at a bushcraft meet and would like to know if anyone can ID it as I can't make out the name stamped into it.

It's a small axe, 12" in total.
I gave it a clean up and made a cover for it all ready to go on my next meet.

Not sure if any one will recognise it but worth a shot

It looks like a Norlund hatchet. Not saying that's what it is like, but it looks like that. Seen better days probly and has been polished.

Go on ebay.com and type in vintage axe. There's only one Norlund hatchet up at the moment, but there are other ones that look like that in any case

EDIT: Just saw you are in Wales ..so .. Norlund are scandinavian style axes (flat cheeks) made in Canada, My guess it isn't a Norlund (though it could be) but is a scandinavian one. Could easily be an older GB. You see plenty of them on the bay of E

Thanks alot for the reply Noddy, have just done a search on the Norland and the shape is the same but they stamp there name on the heel, where mine is stamped on the blade. Mine has seen better days but it will do it's job chopping sticks etc for the fire.
I will keep an eye on the bay of E see if anything pops up.

Cheers

Been looking around today and the only one that comes close to this shape is the norland so might just be a norland.

Its not a Norlund. The handle shape is very similar to handles made by norlund and snow and neally, but the head is not a shape i have seen produced be either of them as S&N axes are basically copies of norlund axes.

I'll keep looking.
