Hey all..

Shing has been enquiring about sending some blades to Paul Bos for heat treating .. the numbers aretwenty blades for seventy bucks plus p/p... if we all put a few blades each then it works out as v.good value... :biggthump

the steels can be exotic (like s30v, bg42, damasteel) .. we can get soemone to buy a load of the steel , distribute it round (maybe from admiral or even crusteel in sheffield).. the ground blades need to be collected and then shipped out ..

i reckon this is a great opportunity... please speak up if you are interested..

cheers

I'll take 4 blades worth if you like, steel matters (a bit) as blade type depends on which steel we go for, but I'm up for it:D

Could This Company Do Gene Osborn Blades?

Could This Company Do Gene Osborn Blades?

Whilst Gene's blades would benefit from argon & cryo HT, I'm sure that the guys are more interested in steels that they could not normally HT effectively (I know I am;))

Jon i'm sure they could do Gene Osbourn blades but like Col said.. why not try something we can't do ourselves..

just looking at prices on admirals website i think bg42 is way too expensive.. 30v is 5o squid for six foot.. enough for eight normal blades or three of Colin's creations :p .. ats34 is half that price .. what about rwl or even bohler cobalt steel

I'm going to email them and see if we can mix and match steels ..

cheers

ps i'm in for four blades as well

Thanks for taking the initiative Ugug, I have the info from Paul Bos, they only HT air harderning steels including stainless damascus, I believe Gene's is oil harderning so would not be suitable. Also, we need to remember to add P&P and possibly VAT and duty which would not be insignificant. I am happy to get a quantity of 30V or other air harderning steel like D2 and administer the process. As mentioned earlier in another post it may take me a bit longer to do things due to family commitments. I will post the detailed requirements for HT by PB ASAP.

I'm picking up some D2 tomorrow, 3.5mm thick for folders and short FBs. I'll add them to the first batch for PB. I enquired about BG42 with Crusteel in Sheffield but the smallest piece you could buy costs about £1500! It'll be nice to find customers in the UK who would fork out enough to buy Stainless damascus knives Colin. Come to think of it, Holland and Holland sell them but I don't know who makes them.

Paul Bos is the guy here in the States. He'll be moving up to Idaho with Buck Knives some time within the next 6 months or a year. He does all their HT work. So double check the address before y'all ship.
