I recently bid on 3 "military" knives I found on E-Bay. When I saw the tang stamps I knew who made them and couldn't resist bidding on 3 CASE Canadian Made Marlinspike Knives. My winning bid was $51.88. These 3 knives are marked MS Ltd XX; MS Ltd XX (different type style); and CASE XX Metal Stamping Ltd. Shortly after WWII the Canadian Government asked CASE to help them rescue a knife company, Pictou Cutlery of Nova Scotia from financial ruin. From 1948 to 1952 CASE did, making knives for the Canadian and British Military. I assume that the arrow in the C was a Canadian Military acceptance mark. The biggest problem they encountered (as did the previous owners) was most of the workers were also Lobstermen and took the lobster season off...the CASE XX Metal Stamping Ltd knife has a spear point blade and the scales are aluminum; the other two knives have stainless scales. All three knives were absolutely filthy (still had some cosmoline!) but the blades don't seem to have been used!!! I am doing some gentle cleaning, Hoppe's #9 loves cosmoline...and will use Simichrome.
