Hi Folks

I reckon this is in the archives but as lots of new members have joined and we have www.thetrondproject.com going on could we have some words from those who know their wood? Where and from what is good wood got? Root or Branch?
How do you best season that wood for the stages that will follow. SEE ELSEWHERE for those stages.

'Clues for Wood'

I like that.

the URL about the trond blade is an invention, but only because I lack the knowledge to create such a thing.

Personal opinion this.

I think that burls are the best although normal trunks can be ok if you are lucky when you cut them.

As for seaoning, it depends on the finish you want, if you want neutral, the boiled linseed oil is good mixed with benar oil and terps. For the shiny finish, tung oil is needed. You can by some other types that have a rlatively high content of varnish type substances. This adds the gloss when it dries.

My only critisism of these oils is shiny is often slippery, especially when wet.
