Hi there everyone!

I was about to start making a sheath this morning when I noticed my ever-increasing pile of small pieces of leather hiding under the table. These are just the cut offs that have accumulated through making sheaths. It just seemed like such a waste, so I decided to sew some pieces together large enough for a sheath. This is what I came up with, I just thought it looked really great and I'd share it with you guys. I also thought it looked very Scandinavian! Let me know what you think.

The knife is a Carllson blade. Masur birch, ebony and holm oak handle with birch bark spacers.

p.s. If you guys think this would be better in the sheaths and leatherwork section, please feel free to move it. I just thought it would appeal to all the Scandi fans!

Cheers,

Gregory

Very nice, and any time you can save some bits instead of wasting them it's a plus. Just seems right that if the animal provides for us we can at least try to keep it's sacrifice out of the trash heap. :)

That's a novel idea and a superb sheath.

You've set me thinking now.

On a weekday as well...

Wonder if I can stitch all of my Damascus offcuts into something useful ?

:)
