Interesting, a closed sale, starting bid of £100 on an unused micarta woodie. Zero bids, I wonder why?

Because the auction has ended early. Somebody made the seller an offer they couldn't refuse.

I've never understood why people sell in those circumstances. Why not tell the offerer to get a bid in, it certainly can't hurt.

Offerer: I'll give you £200 for your item.
Seller: That's kind, why not bid £200?
O: I think it'll sell for more than that.
S: Oh, in that case, sure, why not?

Or:

Offerer: I'll give you £200 for your item.
Seller: That's kind, why not bid £200?
O: I think my offer is more than fair. I don't think you'll get that much.
S: You should get a bargain then eh?

Surely sellers fees aren't that high.

Cos it prolly goes more like...

Offerer: "I'll give you £350 if you sell it to me now"
Seller: "OK"

Perhaps the person they were selling it 'on behalf of' made them a different offer they couldn't refuse?
