Brief one... I'm up to my elbows in sushi rice, this is my break :)
Received a large package from Shing yesterday afternoon, containing some bits that he had very kindly sourced for me, but more importantly, a rather nice knife. This is a full tang hunter with (I'm assuming) Tufnol handles, OAL 9", blade length 4", wonderfully clean grind lines & nice even plunge cuts. Fit & finish is fantastic, and it has a really nice feel in the hand. I might make a Kydex sheath for it, but I suspect that a "proper" (:)) leather one will suit it better.
Photo to follow in a couple of days, when the general chaos subsides...
Thanks, Shing!

KITH stands for "Knife In The Hat". A bit of fun where a few of us made a knife then the names were put into a draw, then we all send our knives to someone else.
Great Fun
Sounds like fun, is there likely to be another in the near-ish future? Would quite like to play if poss???
Colin KC

'trix, once alla pics are in & posted (I DID post one of yours didn't I? Can't remember, prolly drunk:rolleyes: again:rolleyes: ) can we get 'em all together & show the new guys what alla fuss was about, then when we (you) do another, more will want to have a go:D
after the post about the folder book, no-one has any excuses about not making a folder for the next KITH!

I'm not building a surface grinder until *after* I've built a rolling mill.

How about a kit folder.
http://www.classicknifekits.com/store/s-pages/kk_store_1mainframe.htm?kk_products_folderkits_aaf-main.htm~smain
it would allow us beginers a chance of getting involved and the experts can really show us how to customise what they make.
Well done Colin, you don't need a surface grinder Peter, just a micrometer and the best thing is you can carry it round with you and show it to your friends.

I don't "need" a rolling mill, I can do everything I have in mind with a hammer.
Still going to build the thing, however :D
It would be fun to make a folder, so if we agree on that it is allowed with a Kit folder, i am in.

Not knowing you all but one of you guys, is it "OD" owns this site and he sells all the bits for knife kits http://outdoorsuppliesuk.com/classicknifekits/classicknifekits.html
what is the dead line is there a price target so most knives are of equal cost etc etc etc.
Colin KC
16-01-04, 09:19 AM
Stonehard,
Yah, that's Joe, checkout the new KITH thread, you'll see, it's open to anybody. I think Shing's gonna put a loooong time on this one (good job too;)) so's everyone can get their knives finished, no price target, jus' do the best you can:D
