As I`ve managed to get some old pocket knives such as Brückmann brand and Robert Klaas brand (Kissing Cranes) and will sell some of them, I`ll give you who are interested in old (but still unused) knives the chance to see and play with them first before you decide to get you one (or more;) ).
After the passaround is over all knives will be auctioned here and half of the proceeds of each knife will go to BritishBlades. (If that`s ok with Martyn!?:S ) :D
"History":
The E. Brückmann knives were made before WW2 in Solingen, Germany and the production ended and Company was closed before or whilst the war.
The Brückmann store was run by Paul Brückmann until he died in 1956 or `57 and shut down.
There was a warehouse find in the late 1960`s or early 1970`s and some of these were sold by A.G Russell.
A small workshop find ;) :D was made lately here in Germany and these are the very last knives of that particular find.
(The knives of the passaround have stainless steel blades.)
The Robert Klaas or Cissing Cranes knives should also be the last one`s of their kind in unused conditions as I`ve heard from Klaas Company.
Mr. Maus of Klaas Company assured me that these particular knives should be made in the 1950`s and should all have carbon steel blades.
The contenders for that passaround should at least be member of BB for 1 year already and at least have 100 posts and be older than 18 years.
Knives should be sent after 3 days of handling and careful use to the next person on the list via RMSD.
Last one on the list should send the auctioned knives to their new owners then, please! (Of course I`ll pay for the postage!;) :D )
Now these are the knives for the passaround: (1 of each)
Group 1:
Brückmann 2-bladed stainless with wooden scales
Brückmann 2-bladed stainless with horn scales
Klaas 2-bladed "small" with wooden scales (Length opened ~ 16,5 cm)
Klaas 2-bladed "big" with wooden scales (Length opened ~ 17,4 cm)
Klaas Lockback with coloured bone scales
Group 2:
Klaas Gentleman folder with wooden scales and nickelsilver bolsters
Klaas Little Gentleman with wooden scales and nickelsilver bolsters
Klaas Sodbuster
Klaas Harness Jack CAUTION:!: Blade and awl do have a stop at half way when opening and closing. After that point awl or blade snap shut really hard by their strong springs!!!! Be very careful not to hurt you, please! (Cut myself when I tried to open the awl! :D )
Group 1 of knives will be sent from the members top of the list to the bottom, group 2 of knives will be sent vice versa!
(At the kind suggestion by Danzo, thanks!;) :D )
I`ll send the knives in the condition I got them.
If you need to sharpen them, please try not to ruin the blades! ;) :D
There should be at least 10 members for that passaround to make sense. The more the better!
