I have a numbered (#191) Kellam Wolverine that I am considering trading or selling for a Gransfors Bruks Axe. Anyone interested?

I paid £66.50 for this knife in November. It is absolutely perfect condition and has never been used to cut anything. The last of these numbered Wolverines are rather unusual in that they are the result of requests from American customers for a skinner version of the Wolverine. Apparently the makers did not fully understand the idea behind a skinner and simply changed the tip very slightly.

I’d like a straight swap for a Gransfors, or would sell for £45 o.n.o.

Is that a broken tip?

No! Wayne it is NOT a broken tip.

Here is a copy of the post that Kellam sent to me.

Hi Ophidian

sorry all the numbered wolverines have been sold with the exception of 5 which were a trial run designed for skinning so they were made with the last millimeter of the point rounded off

if you would like one of the numbered 'skinning' wolverines let me know

All the best

Stuart

I am sure that there are plenty of people on this forum who could re-profile the tip if they wanted to. As I say, I have not cut with or tampered with the blade.

Regards, Paul

Hello All

I did not release any information on these 'Skinning' wolverines to the public, but now that one has popped up on this forum i'll explain them.

when a small batch of wolverines turned up with the last millimeter of the blade left unsharpened and rounded off I was a little miffed, after a quick phone call I was told that these were the result of the US hunting market requesting a wolverine with a rounded, blunt tip for skinning (to prevent punchering the insides)

this was relayed to the finnish maker who apparently could not understand why they would want an unsharpened tip (why dont they just skin an animal properly?) and so he just didnt sharpen the last milimeter

The result was not what the US were looking for and the idea was abandoned, and by some mistake they ended up with me

when Ophidian called and asked for a numbered wolverine i informed him that none were left but i did however have a numbered version without a sharpened tip (and explained the above story)

I also said that i would send it to him and if for any reason he was unhappy with it he could return it for a normal unnumbered wolverine

which is how Ophidian ended up with one, leaving me with only three numbered wolverines with the last milimeter unsharpened and rounded off
numbers 150, 108 and 116
