Hi folks
My Grandfather was a Police officer in Copenhagen who was shot by the Gestapo at the end of WWII. As a result I never got to learn about what being a policeman was like from my Grandad.
I have a lot of criticisms of the police, as one might expect from a someone who teaches law and collects knives.
However I don't think that on this site we should use abusive terms towards individual police officers. No individual criticism is meant by this but it is easy to drift into a use of language that benefits no-one and demeans us all. I think that most very senior Police officers are a waste of money and breath. I reckon most real coppers do too. We have a solid support here from serving officers who may face untimely death every time they go into work.
Please don't stop criticising the way our hobby is policed. There is much that is very wrong with that. However if we cannot treat the Police with respect then we cannot hold a moral high ground as legitimate and law abiding hobbyists.
From now on I will edit out any post that uses abusive language toward the individual Police officer.
