Engineers supply comapnies like Buck and Hickman, Cromwell, or others should be able to either sell you, or help you to find, brass shim. Just about any thickness, from .008" to .064".

If you can find a comapny that uses this stuff, you might even be able to scrounge offcuts for nothing.

I'm sure that Cedric at Argent Steel will be able to tell you where you can find some. Maybe Shing knows...

But I've read other people complaining that brass goes gungy... If you really want yellow, and metal, how about 9K gold? Or straw temper coloured steel? The KnifeKits site has a gallery of Darren Ralph kits, many of them have had the scales coloured this way, and they look extremely nice.

I know you asked for mail order people but ..... if there is a model/toy shop near you somewhere you can probably find brass sheet, brass wire and brass tube. The stuff must be used for model aircraft and model boats, most model shops sell the stuff, there is a firm in Chicago (I think) which supplies the stuff and they must have a really good UK distributor. The stuff is usually in a purpose made display/sales box along with aluminium and copper sheet, wire and tube. Very handy.

The last model shop closed in my town a couple of years ago, god knows what the kids of today do ?
Mind you there is one in the next large town (17 miles away), I'll call in next time I'm there.
