I've seen but never made one of these "squirrel tail" knives before. Well, while the cold shop was out of commision seemed like the time.

The blade is 3 1/2" (8" total) and it's all one piece of 450 layer damascus. 1084, L6, 5160 & mild. This is also the first knife I've tried the "Moran" edge on (thanks for the tips Rene!)

What's a Moran Edge?

What's a Moran Edge?

A Moran edge is a convex grind on the edge of the blade. As opposed to doing a total convex grind (since I prefer flat grinds) I flat ground the blade and convexed the edge.

Thats really cool J. It looks both quirky and also very usable. Once we get this baby out of Mrs Danzo I'll be looking for something of yours, diaper spending permitted!

Very nice indeed bit like the historic ones Trond and Steen make although yours is a little more twisty.
