I used to have a full analysis saved in my favourites but the site isn't there anymore. i wish i'd saved it to my hard drive.
I think you'll find that only Thunderforge, forge it though. I believe it's called Thunderforge after the name of the company that forges it.
If you are looking for a good commercial damascus supplier, what's wrong with Damasteel? Much closer to you.

From memory, Thundersteel is a mix of 1095 and O1 (you can find the analyses easily enough) with 8% pure nickel.
Damasteel is martensitic stainlees, a mix of RWL34 and some other steel.
So they're not necessarily interchangeable. I don't know if you can do the HT of Damasteel yourself; I'd send mine back to Eurotechni (my supplier). http://www.eurotechni.com seems to be the address now, but the site isn't very reliable...
On the other hand, you can HT THunderforge easily:

I've got a pamphlette from a swedish supplier, Soderfors Smedja, for hardening damasteel and it says treat as RWL 34. Soak at 1050C and air cool or oil quench depending on thickness. Temper at 200C

I have made few blades with this steel and I have been very happy with it. :biggthump I could recomend this damascus for everyone. I have not forged it, since I dont want to mess the fine pattern that it has. I think that it comes in few differend paterns like twist, double twist and birdseye. Really good stuff. :approve:
I was talking with Ric from Thunderforge Damascus and he had some nice advises how to work with his steel and how to etch it. :approve:
He is member in here so RIC, Come here and brag a bit!!!

Thunderfoge is really plain straight forward damascus steel as we make it, Damasteel is powder steel and determine the temperature fot the ht craves an oven wih exact temperature messuring, while Thunderforge can be heat treated by the use of a magnet to determine the temperature
However Per, I do not see why you want to go to USA to get your steel when there are people that you and I know who can make the same steel for you in both Denmark, Norway and Sweden ;)

Hey Gents,
I hope all is well with everyone....thanks for the great & positive comments everyone, our hard work has forged out the responses we like to see...like I how I blend in the word for forge :0
I would first like to make a correction...Thunderforged...with a D on the end......
We are the manufacturers of Thunderforged Damascus, along with everything else featured in our web site, www.knifesupplies.com
I just hung up the telephone from speaking with Per just moments ago.
Per has taken a distributorship of UAI's product line in the Denmark area. The reason for his posing this question was to get some feedback from actual users.
I would like to once again thanks for the positive reinforcement.
Heads up, we have a new damascus, StrikeForged(tm) coming out, it has already been discussed in the Blade Show issue of Blade Mag in 2003, I think the cover date is Aug.
Everyone will surely get a heads up here....I gotta look after my frineds!
Have a great day.

I've used it & like it a lot!
The KITH knife was made from their #1 twist pattern & I've recently got some more:D
Thanks Ric,
I'll certainly look into this new damascus you're bringing out:)
Perhaps if you guys ought it out in a thicker billet, I might try forging it;)

What we need now is a UK distributor or dealer ......

Postage to Denmark isn't too bad, I'd hope the converse was also true!

Hi Folks,
Keith - Thanks for the purchase, I am glad to see a pleased cutomer, that is our #1 goal. Post some photos, let see some of your work incorporating Thunderforged(R)! What sizes do you think you would need to re-forge our materials? Most recently I met with a customer that uses Thunderforged(R) as a core for san-mei....looked great!
Roger - I have no idea who is the UK knife supplies dealer (hint hint) I will be more than glad to have this area serviced. Let me know who is the main man in the area.
Martyn - Who is Joe?
Have a great day Gents.
