Do any of you guys have experience (good or bad) with these two suppliers ?
Koval Knives - www.kovalknives.com
Texas Knifemaker's Supply - www.texasknife.com
Or would you rather recommend somebody else ?

Hi Gerd,

Either are good, you could do a lot worse, beware shipping & import duty though!

Hi Gerd,
I’ve used Texas Knife supplies many times and found them very helpful, never had any problems with them. But as said beware of Import duty, I was charged £40 for importing a multi-tool grinding attachment.

Thanks Johnuk6,
I’m very aware of import duty and other import taxes  as I get a lot of stuff for making bows, arrows etc from the USA and other countries. For smaller orders there are ways to get around that :D – at least here in Norway.
For knifemaking I’ve usually got what I need here in Norway, Sweden or in Denmark. Just want to make sure that I’m not “looking for trouble” when ordering from a new place.

I have used this Company for about the last 6 weeks and have been blown away by their attention to detail and service
http://www.classicknifekits.com if your looking for knife kits and stuff they have quite a lot that the other companies you mentioned have.
Most of my orders have taken four days from order to delivery. It often takes longer to get a letter from London than it does from the states.

johnuk6,

Is the multi-tool grinding attachment any cop? and how much was the postage, I just got a Kydex sheath kit from TKS and the postage was $21 and the packaging and catalogue weighed more than the kit so the kit cost close to £19 and that is with an 11 year high on the exchange rate.

Hi Christopher,
The Multi-tool is a great little machine, I attached it to an 8in grinder and I use the other side of the grinder for polishing. It cost me about £180.00 to buy from TKS. I have never seen it on sale in the UK. I use the machine a lot, it’s very well built. I buy the belts from Machine Mart that fit the 4x36in belt sander and cut them down the middle, that way I get two belts for the price of one.
