Don't know if you guys like Comp.Cutters but I'm gonna' stick this one up,
it's by ABS MS,Bailey Bradshaw. 8)
The steel is forged CPM-3V,has rubber handle for a tack, secure grip.
You've probably seen Bailey's work in Roger's recent thread, haven't used it yet but corresponded with a couple of gent's that have at Bill Moran's school in AZ,and they confirmed it is a "cutting beast".

That's a beast!
:O
No prizes for looks but I think it would take the head off a pig in one go!
:C
Danzo
It's got a look of a Japanese cook's knife to me, prolly a lot heavier though.
Think Danzo's right about it's looks, could do with a guard and Ironwood handle!
What's the grind btw? hollow with convex edge?
Serious Chopper!;)
You must have one hell of a collection mate!!!

Bailey said it was made from a block that was 3" wide and 1" thick,
Blade is 10" long and 2" thick,overall 15",
.325" at the ricasso, rockwell's at Rc60,full tapered tang with a thonghole.
Flat grind with convex edge.
Fiskar,I was thinking about a guard and handles as well but I'll probably chew up some 2 X 4's and cut some rope first,Bailey said I could send it back for a re-sharpening as it is sharpened on a leather belt.
Thanks for the comments and questions. :)

Very nice, you better be VERY carefull when attempting to re-handle it. Ive seen some messy cuts from slipping on an untaped blade...this will likely take your hand off :O
Your a lucky guy :biggthump

That is one heck of a knife. There sure aren't too many big forged 3-V blades out there. Cutting competition blades are a whole sub-category of bowies that I would be happy collecting.
Like some others have said, the aesthetics would be improved with a nice wooden handle. That would be my first order of business. No arguing with the functional aspects, though. Reggie Barker won back-to-back championships with knives handled in a semi-squishy synthetic material.

Kane,
Yes,as well as the one in my avatar, one of his Merc's,that said,I've been down THIS road too many times before on every knife forum I've ever been a member of.It usually starts a flame war,the likes of which I have here to for never experienced.
THAT SAID,he is my favorite knifemaker and a friend,I have more knives by him than any other maker.More about this tomorrow.Good eye, sir! 8)

He is that! :D
And yes,he is still making knives and also working on his archives,he is 64 and his son recently was discharged from the U.S. Marines and they are getting to spend time together. 8)
When I get some better pics of his work that I have,I'll post them.

Mr.Yarrow,
I've put some handles on some blades before, nothing I'd ever post pictures of:yikes: ,but I would NEVER try to put a guard/handle on a knife from a MS of the ABS.
The point being,I'll probably be doing some cutting with the CompCutter as well and then contact Bailey about a guard and handle.

Ok LB, dont blame you really
In regards to Shiva, weve had a few chats about him on here before. He seems like an a grade whack job, who makes an amazingly good knife for cutting. On BB we do NOT do flaming and wars are pre-empted by the UN (or Mods and Admins), so its not a problem here :)
Would be great to talk about him some more, but that deserves a seperate thread or maybe even better by PM.

Oh I so want to play with that knife! :D
As for Shiv Works, mildly eccentric (which just brightens the world a little) and interesting sharp pointy things in my view.
Anyway the knife for flame fests is a Sebenza 'cos there poo :D
Awesome. I have always liked BB's work. Nice collection FB.

Mighty impressive!!Better keep good distance from THAT!!!WOW!!
You don't see too many forged stainless blades which is a pity because when they're done by someone who knows how they really do deliver.
That particular knife looks like it deserves a whole lot of respect. My hat's off to the maker, and I'm green with envy that you managed to snag it :)

Bailey posted it For Sale and it lasted 39 minutes before I posted an I'll take it.
A few guys were asleep at the wheel that day.
Xunil,Thanks.
