Hi. I was wondering if you guys could check out this first scandinavian hunter of mine. It is made from birch and a laminated blade by brusletto.
I would really like if you could comment it:

Shows potential.

Do yourself a favour tho. Stop using brusletto. IMHO they give a handmade knife a shop bought look. Stick to trond!

it was a old blade i bought was 1 year or so. I just used it for fun. It took me 1/2 hour to make the handle :) it was more for fun. I most always use Tronds blades.

Hi Johan

Its looks very good from here... :)

Whats the fit from blade into the handle like?......

The tip of the blade on the edge looks a bit blue in colour...Is that just a reflection?

:)

Looks Ok Johan, but why not show us some of the finer knives of yours? I know you have some really nice knives, cause i have hold them in the palm of my hand ;)

I think the knife would look a lot better if the handle material used were of a better quality Johan, where did you get this piece?

Half an hour? I spent longer than that just looking at my wood :biggthump

Danzo, i've uploaded a new picture now. That is the kind of knives i usually makes. The handle is made of birch burl, ebony, buffalo horn, spacer of vulcanized fiber and "nickelsilver. The sheath has a bolster of nickerlsilver as well.

OHHHHHH NOOOOOOOO

People we have another "I make handmade knives by using a belt sander" maker in the house!

What happened to good old fashioned hobby work, craftsmanship, and elbow grease!! :banghead: :aargh4: :tapedshut

Never mind. I'll suppose your young enough for me to :twak: som sense into yet :lmao:

well, i use it a little bit but ofcourse i use a file! Anyway it is broken now so i think i have to use a knife to shape the handle. And, i had just used grit 80 when i sanded it!! so i think i will just :twak: you back

Just so as you don't misunderstand Johan this is a standing joke on the forums.

I am a stronf beleiver in handmade meaning without power tools. I don't use them and often use a hand drill to make the first hole in the shaft. The shaft is cut with a coping ( Lystersag) saw and the rest is done by hand, with knife, file paper and hard work.

 Not like trond who can knock out a shaft every 20 minutes:lmao:!!

Keep to the hand tools mate. Gives you a great sense of well being and lets you put some of your personality into the shaft!

Johan, never mind Dave, hes just so cheap that he cant afford the tools needed to make a desent knife :D

And I think you were the only one, that did not know that Dave cannot afford a belt sander, cause he uses every opportunity he can to remind us about that fact

Firstly my Scandinavian Screwball, belt sanders are not only used for knifemaking...... they are actually used to do things in the house, like sanding down wooden floors and the like.

Secondly, i have enough blades to last me for a good while yet. I am in the fortunate ( or unfortunate) position of having enough to do making for others and have little time to make knives for my site ( aint life hard!)

So there so, oh and have anoyther :fart: and a :nutkick: for good measure.
