I've gone mad and bought one! I'm going to coat the inside with ITC-100 then I'll write a review once I've used it a wee bit.

they look pretty nifty ....... let us know how it goes :biggthump
I have one since four years, the model with two openings and the door. I would not buy it again. That has nothing to do with the quality, performance or workmanship, because i found the PF 200 well made, well suited for knifemaking and able to reach a welding heat for damascus billets of up to, say one kilo.
But since i built the first gas forge myself i know that i am able to reach better performance with a lot less efforts. Material costs for a complete gas forge of the size of the PF, including tubing, isolation, valving, burners and so on, are at about 150 Euro, whereas just a new isolation of the PF alone costs around 300 Euro. And to build it you just need a few tools. Also, a different burner system allows me to get a lot more out of the same amount of propane. I am able to do damascus billets of up to 2.5 - 3 kilos in it with about half the amount of propane.

Did you buy or make your burners?

I made my burners. Until now i built about 50 or so gas forges for blacksmiths and bladesmiths, mostly friends, over a period of about 4 years. I started with burners built after plans from Ron Reil, which you may find on his website. But i started modifying them nearly immediately and now have my own type, which is still close to his burners but has it's own system to regulate air/gas ratio.
