Right,

As those who were there will know, we had a rather succesfull raffle held on the Saturday of the Leeds 2007 weekend. As a result I have a large wad of well thumbed notes that need to be given out :D

After a bit of careful thinking this is how the money will be split;

Owen Bush - £140

Jack Hobson - £100

Dan Sharpe - £100

Reasonings;

Owen is holding two Hammerins this year and as we know they arent cheap, so these funds will hopefully provide a peice of equipment for the weekends or reduce the cost a little for the attendees etc

Jacks Hammerin is once a year, BUT, its a truly mammoth job which will cost a fair amount to run. The funds will hopefully reduce the cost to attendees of getting the American chap over, or buy a peice of kit we can use etc

Danzo along with others run quite a few EMCCU meets and Im sure this cash could go someway to helping them get a bigger buffet, a larger raffle prize or a differnt venue.

As it happens, due to some under spend at the curry on Saturday night I will still have £40 left after paying the above amounts out. I would like for this unexpected bonus to go to a charity and as Magikelly is busy raising funds for one I thought that was appropriate.

I hope this meets with agreement from the membership and the people the Leeds chaps would like to beneffit from it :)

If Owen, Jack and Danzo can get in contact with me I will arrange to get funds to them somehow.

That seems all fair to me.

That is extraordinarily generous. I'll gratefully accept and promise that the money will go to a forum member knifemaker for a raffle prize so that it supports knifemaking.

I said it to Ken and Si and I say it again. I had no doubt in my mind that either of these guys would ever give me reason or cause to question what would happen with this money.

In short... Top blokes!:)

Nice one!

thanks chaps ,

i think that I will find a bit of dedicated kit with the dosh - some part of a work station, either anvil or forge or grinder (140 would buy the materials for a coke forge or gas forge or a grinder or the whole thing on ebay!).
this next" forge in "should" fund itself as far as coke, gas, and sat eve food with the money that I am asking (hopefully) but with at least 30 people coming, kit will be the thing in demand .
whatever it is that i get i shall make sure that it is portable enough to be dragged along to jacks or any other do and shall consider it property of us all to be used at any events that happen with my involvement or not!

I dont want to reduce costs as 140 split 30 ways dont add up to much but an extra grinder or forge will make a big diference .

so thank you ,we shall all reap the benifits

nice one !

Good call Owen, Mars Bars & beer are easy to get from pocket change, but good kit will enhance the whole affair, you have rep:D

Thats great Owen, I was hoping that it would proivde the opportunity to get a peice of kit :)

A quick side note...im not very good at counting notes, so Magikellys charity will actually get £50 :biggthump

Many thanks Si. I need to commission a maker now for a rather good knife. I think we'll add this £100 to our usual £100 - £150 raffle money to give something over £200. That should give a maker a fair amount of scope for something special.

Thanks again, the generosity is appreciated and I'm pleased to be able to put it back into supporting knifemaking.

Thank you again. The donation seemed to increase a bit from the original as well as the tax back :D
