happy easter everyone:D :D

i got a couple of knives this morning from t'carbooit sale, a nice little mop folder and a double edged dagger type thingy.
having paid a fiver for the dagger, the chap said, "you know what sort of knife it is don't you?", i said, sorry i don't have a clue, he says, it's an SAS knife- yeah right:rolleyes: , now, i'd already paid him for the knife so he had no need to lie, did he tell the truth or does he get some king of a kick out of lying (possibly habitually!!)
the knife.

Looks like a copy of a Gerber Mk1 - used to see adverts for them all over the place (think I have one somewhere)

Why do people need to put the SAS tag on everything?! Looks like you got some bargains in the end though, we were gonna go to Oldcoates today but looks like it will be next weekend now.

Yup, copy of a Gerber Mk1, but it's made by Herbertz who are a decent German maker of long standing. Here's their website:

http://www.herbertz-messerclub.de/

Nowadays they make a range of stuff from the cheap and cheerful to the really rather good.

I'd try and get more info on the Herbertz before doing anything rash like flogging it. I suspect it may have some value to the right collector. If you speak German or can get translation try here:

http://www.messerforum.net/

You'll recognise a few BB names there to ask. That is if Ludi doesn't show up soon!

:D

Don't think mine was the same maker - sold as a German army boot knife IIRC - definately worth a fiver :)
