Got this mammoth tooth...

...Anyone know how I should cut it?

I've seen some tooth slabs somewhere, but don't remember which way the cutting ridges went, can anybody help?

I have only seen it slabbed horizontally, the "grain" in the tooth appears to run from root to crown so the horizontal slice exposes it best.

Colin, I've got one of those things too. I suspect mine is fully mineralised so it will work more like stone than anything else. Let me know how you get on with yours.
