I really had not thought about it at all:C

But i have to thank Diamond Dave hugely for the help he is giving me. He knew i had no equipment at all, and has found me a tent, sleeping bag, ground sheet, cutlery etc without even being asked.

I am tremendously thankfull to him for his help, and now understand why it is 'Diamond' Dave........and also why this forum totally rocks.

I am humbled by the generosity:)

I would be gretefull for a list of things i REALLY need though as i truly do not know.

I have not camped out since the hot summer of '76'

Presumably this is specific to the EMCCUBCWE.I, where it seems all the manly men will be carousing up a storm? :D

I'll start a second thread specific for the second weekend.

I think I'll bring more bushy type blades so:

Guycep convex hunter
Dave Barker large scandi
MikeHill rehandled Fallkniven F1
Paul Granger small utility knife
Service Issue Kukri
Large old utility kukri

And some folders; Manix, Mini Rukus etc.

Torches: Nextorch T9 and Nuwai QIII probably. Probably a big Maglite to compare with the LEDs in the dark woods.

First Aid Kit: Heavily upgraded Mountain FAK.

Survival kit: Ritter PSP

Beer

And I'll need to borrow some camping stuff too!

:D

You're now going to tell us all the trees are strung with fairy lights, aren't you?

Actually, that would be rather magical. We could all pretend to be Elves! I'd bring this along:

Elves are big! At least old JRR's version of them. They stood much taller than even the Men of the West!

:D

Maybe they ate less chocolate and pies than me, but I still think in profile and at night I can pass for one!

How will people be kipping? tent, hammock or bivvy?

I think i'll be camping but i've a 3 man tent which seems like overkill and would also quite like to try bivvying, though that's weather dependant!

How are we cooking? Over the main fire or via BBQ? ... or gas?!?...

OK what am I bringing....

tarp
mosi net
poncho
thermarest
little billy can & trangia
tin cup
3L camel back
some food
some coffee
petzl tikka
various sharps
Yaesu ft817 ham radio
mobile phone
mini first aid kit
clothes I'm standing up in + change for going home.

All packed into my eagle industries A-III (http://www.eagleindustries.com/eagle_admin/product_admin/Images/large/50_Large.jpg)

In the landy I'll throw in some extra drinking water and an optimus 111c with fuel for if I get fed up playing with the trangia.

One or two other bits of kit to have a test and play with.

Guys, be sure to bring you own mini first aid kit, but dont overdo it - mine will consist of a few plasters and a bit of iodine, that's about it. Personally, I panic at the sight of blood and anything bigger than a wasp sting and I'll be calling an ambulance. ;)

(Though with all those sharps floating about a couple of blood stoppers is probably prudent.)

Just take care, I really dont want a busmans holiday. ;)

Seriously, I'm basically bringing a BOB and some water and that's about it.

No marquee or anything - in fact I dont own a tent.

I'll just have a cheapo two-man tent, a blow-up mattress (I know, we're softies), standard sleeping bags, whatever cooking device I decide to get out of the choices here (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36742), a portable barbecue, some meat & eggs, assorted brights & sharps and about ten changes of clothes for the lad (who, as is standard with most boys, could get himself mucked-up standing in the middle of a white room!) :).

Edit: and some archery stuff if it'll fit in the car :P.
