For all of you who were interested when they first heard about the Boker / Kalsnikov collaboration, but were dissapointed when they actually saw one of the AK47's, and shocked when they read the prices :yikes: I suggest that you have a look at the "economy" version, the AK74 that Joe has on pre-order for only £20.50

Although this version is made in Taiwan rather than in Germany, it is made to a very high standard. If someone had tried to sell it to me for £60 it would have seemed a reasonable price.

The blade is a nice 3.5" / 8.5cm long of AUS-8 stainless with a much more practical shape than upswept bayonet shape of the Boker AK47.

The handle is aluminium and fills the hand nicely without being too bulky.

The linerlock is very positive, locking into place with an audible "thunk". There is also a detent which holds the blade closed, reducing the possibility of accidental opening.

The knife is held together by allen screws for those who like to dissasemble their knives. A nice touch is that the blade screw has the Russian star on it.

The knife is delivered in a cardboard box shaped to resemble the magazine of the AK74 rifle.

Overall this is a knife that you could use and abuse every day, and it would perform as a much more expensive one. As a bonus if you lost it then it's cheap to buy a replacement!

I also was gobsmacked by the uglyness and high price of the origional! It was however very very well made.
