With the second of the Bushcrafter weekends now as close as next weekend, I thought it prudent that we make sure everyone has everything they need. Ultimately, all you're going to need is a tent/tarp and a sleeping bag, and a sleeping mat and cooker if you so choose. So as per 'se7en days...' here's the check list, hope I haven't missed anyone;

ooh bows awsome , i hope they are traeditional wooden hunting bows boys :DPossibly not as traditional as you hope, at a minimum they'll be a couple of AFB's, a mongolian-style, a junior compound and a junior fibreglass. That's between me & dtalbot, not sure what anybody else is bringing. Oh, and of course they aren't 'hunting bows' as that is illegal :P . Oh, and they'll also be some girls there :O .
Superwolf, I notice this is your first post; welcome to BB & the EMCCU. Why don't you head off to the BB New Members forum & tell us a bit about yourself? :)

Me and the kids will have a modern mongol bow (can't afford a real horn one, will make one one day!), Mathews Genesis compound (Sophies but will draw to about 30" so anyone can play), and Emilys, acacia and cherry all wood junior AFB. Might throw in another big person AFB if I have room. Oh and a couple of air rifles and maybe a CO2 pistol for a bit of fun with some of the empty beer cans we might well have
Something probably worth mentioning to all those not at the last one is that there is a pretty decent Co-Op in Collingham, two miles from HH Wood.
Several of us went and picked up most of our food and beer from there. Usual Co-Op prices for food, and by 2.00pm on Saturday there were already some good half price deals on meat near it's sell by. I got two trays of excellent steak that I didn't even eat in the wood, and lasted me for three days afterwards!
They also had whole cases of beer in the fridge, so it wasn't warm as wee-wee after a couple of hours or more sitting in a car.

theres also an easaly accesable aldi in newark for those passing by and in a tighter budget, its easy to find and on the road running parralell with the canal. t minus 3 days till woodland tom foolery ladys and gents .
any how of to see if a friends still got a bow stave i stored at his place a couple of yrs back, must be good and seasoned by now so many types of bow to try making and so little time :D
OK, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "it's ok" and 10 being "oh my mf'ing god, I can't wait I want it to be now!" how excited are you?
Let's put it this way, on Monday I woke up at 3.30am as I couldn't stop thinking about what to bring, 4.30am on Tuesday & 4am this morning. I think that makes me about a scale 12.5 excited :D
Just hope it's not a wash out :(
Take your waterproofs.

how far away it it from Collingham train station (or newark) according to these?
On the first weekend thread pippyd had:
Well grid refs are:
Turning off the A46:
(OS) SK 86021 60794
(LatLong - Deg, Min, Sec) 53deg 8' 14.6N 0deg 42' 56.5W
The poly tunnel:
(OS) SK 86144 60507
(LatLong - Deg, Min, Sec) 53deg 8' 05.2N 0deg 42' 49.8W
Hope that helps.
Cheers, Phil
And Ant said:
Right then, directions. The problem with satnav is that our address is Norton Disney, but you can't get to us from there, and we're up a private drive. The entrance to the wood is actually on the main A46 southbound. If you're travelling north you have to u-turn. Travelling north on the A46 you u-turn just after the sign which says you're entering Lincolnshire. The junction is signposted Norton Disney. Come back on your self so you're travelling south, and as you pass the sign saying you're entering Nottinghamshire(again), we're 70-odd yards further down on the left. If you're coming from the north, just ignore the bit about u-turning. Take a look at the link (http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=53.131328~-0.708881&style=h&lvl=16&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=7710407&&cid=286A4350E339A32!112&encType=1) that Phil posted on the last page. It's not quite the right place, that's Hill Holt Farm, but I don't know how to do that space picture thing so I just stole the link. Look above and to the left and you'll see a wood. That's us. The white square you can see in the wood is the poly tunnels in the garden, and the clearing in the bottom left corner of the wood is the camp site. Look at the top edge of the wood and you can see the entrance off the A46, and you can just about make out the drive into the wood.
Have I missed any other questions? I seem to have a mind like a sieve recently. Any problems, pm me.

It's going to rain. A lot.
:(
Still, there's pubs in Collingham!
:D
Danzo
ok, I know this isn't going to be popular, but somebody needs to say it; considering what the weather's potentially going to be like over the weekend (i.e. very wet), does anybody think we should cancel until later in the Summer?
If the weather's like it has been over the last few days, i.e. mainly overcast, scattered (heavy) showers, bright spells, then I think we could still be good to go but if the rain's more persistent then I don't know...
Anthony, how's the site going to be if there's been heavy rain for a period and is there going to be anywhere to sit/eat/etc. in the dry?
The bushy tarp from decathlon (as found by Anthony funnily enough) looks like a good idea, is it worth getting one?
Sorry to be seeming to put a downer on things, but as I'm with the lad it's not an option to sit around & get rat-arsed (as much as I'd like to :))

Well said Jim
Ant has said he has some large tarps and on the last one we would have just sat there getting p*ss*d and chucking beer cans and fag butts at the rain.
:D
But with a few younger EMCCU members there it might not be in their best interests to have them getting drenched.
Danzo

Much as want to have a lot of fun this weekend I really, really don't want to get utterly drenched and then drown in a flood.

If anyone needs extra kit because of the rain then give me a shout.
I've a 3m x 3m tarp which could help cover some of the tables where we sat on the first weekend in the open. A few spare tents (though the tents would be very much subject to no spitting fires or smoking around them).
The ideal might be if someone has one of those open side marquee/gazebo type of things as they cover quite an area.
Same goes with clothing. A few spare waterproofs etc etc though I guess everyone will have that stuff already.
Hope it's an enjoyable day regardless of the weather.

Een though it might be a tad wetter than the 1st weekend I'm sure you will all have a brill time as its a great place and looks like you will have some half decent company amongst yourselves as well :P

Having got totally drenched this afternoon whilst going to and from town and round to feed a cat, I'm sorry to say that if the rain is the same tomorrow I won't be coming folks.
I simply do not enjoy being soaked to the skin and it makes me heartily miserable. My messed up immune system doesn't appreciate it either and I can't afford to be seriously unwell whilst I'm looking for work.
:(
Sorry if that makes me a wet-blanket stick in the mud, but I don't want to be stuck in the mud with a wet blanket. I've already got a streaming nose from today!

I've been without a computer for the past two days, sorry. I'm thinking that with the weather being potentially not at it's best, then I might get there a little later and start around 2:30-3ish. We have enough dry places at work that it'll never be a washout, just a little wet. I'm at work tonight (other job) so if you want to know anything else then pm me and I'll answer them in the morning.

I'm so glad it's not raining, but I'm afraid I now have a dreadful head cold so won't be coming.
Sorry folks.
If anyone is coming via Nottingham I have a stove for Ant, some bits for the raffle and a knife for Jim. I can pop into town to save coming all the way to mine if anyone is around
Danzo
That's a shame mate.
I was just watching a CH-47 Chinook fly by and thought that it was perhaps bringing your refreshments for the day. :D :D
Take Care

Winter bushcraft meet halfway in the planning! Think large fire pit and dead bambi look alike were part of the agenda!
