What a lovely knife

The pic does not do it justice in any way whatsoever (sorry waldorf :D )

I guess it is some sort of hand rubbed finish on the blade and it looks superb

I had not seen desert ironwood burr in person before and it is very "deep" with beautiful patterns.

The handle slabs taper outwards toward the back to give a superb grip even for my gorilla hands.

The only slight downer is that the bolsters are ever so slightly "sharp" on the top edges.

I have emailed Geoff Haugue to see if can make me a left handed sheath for it.

Thanks Waldorf

Glad your happy Bagman,
I knew you would be, told you he make`s some nice kit.
I think i am right in saying Geoff is now the only resident
Brit who is a voting member of the knifemakers guild.
hope he can make you a sheath, because his new sheath`s
are really nice! no stiching inside the pouch, he will also
tool the sheath as well if wanted he doe`s some nice acorn`s!!!

I have not been able to keep my hands off it all afternoon :D

There are no prices on his web site, does that I should not ask?

waldorf

That website is well out of date, as for price`s well sometimes
you get what you pay for,and sometime`s you get a bargain!!!!!!!
your probably best phoning him, he usually attend`s the CLA FAIR
but he`s`alway`s at the Midland, I`d heard that he was mainly
going to concentrate on folders?
If you get any joy with the sheath let me know how much
i could do with one.

What do you think of the Mini AFCK?

waldorf

It`s a nice knife my first folder actually!
I`m more of a plain hunter style fan, I do not think you can
beat a good old fixed blade. Maybe not as PC as folders but
today liking knive`s is not PC!, its a funny old world.
Going back to folders though my next one will be a more
traditional pattern, I`ve seen a lovely Tony Bose

:) This forum does that to me every day! I keep thinking, no Wayne you have thousands of pounds of knives and more than several lifetimes use could wear out, you don't need another knife! Then I see a picture or a review and golly gosh I feel the clammy hands and cold sweat form and I start calculating how man luxuries like...oh food and rent can I skip to get that one Laaaaast knife!:p

Many thanks for the mags BTW, I missed them in the box first time round!:o

I just received an email form Geoff Hague to say he can make me a left handed sheath if I send the knife back to him for moulding.

By the end of the month it will be mine

AHHH heck with this! Just take the ambidexterity feat! Or better yet, rangers get two weapon fighting and ambidexterity for free at first level as long as they wear nothing more than light armour!:p :p :p

Anyone sad enough to admit they understand me?:D

40 quid plus a fiver postage

It is quite a bit more than I thought it might be but I think it will be worth it.

Dave - thanks for those kind words of encouragment, they mean so much :D

I have just put my name down for a purchase slot in about 22 months for one of Geoff's knives. Dont know which yet but when it is nearly your time he gets in touch to see what you want - what a flippin brill system.

I asked Geoff about making up a couple of sghian dubhs for myself & my best man (the same usual recipient of my knives :)). Unfortunately, I only managed to give him about 13 months notice, so it couldn't be done...

I have often wondered about the "wearing of the tartan" myself due to the fact that it gives you the right under law to legally carry a fixed blade in public  :D

I hope so as I have an Elk hunter from George Tichbourne on order and have the money for that stashed away but nothing more :(

:) I'm saving up now for my stainless Damask Sebbie blade... $185:eek: plus P&P and I may go for the dual thumb lug option at a further $31.50:rolleyes:

The problem with being on such good terms with the guys at CRK is they can turnaround the blade in weeks for me, so less time to save... Can't win;) !!!!!!!

LOL! Do you have a double lug model, whats it like?;)

bagman
10-06-03, 01:38 PM
Both my classic 2000's have double lugs.

When I was doing the fuzz stick bit for your post a few weeks ago the "extra lug" got in the way a couple of times but nothing too serious.

I think they make the knife look a lot better, more balanced and they sure make opeing it wrong handed a lot easier.

My new lefhanded sheath for the hunter arrived this morning and it is beautiful.

Sandwich construction with a very good wet moulded fit.

Dark tan thick leather with a lovely smell :D

The belt loop is quite small and I will have to try it out on a couple of belts when I get home tonight but I think it will fit very snuggly on a 1 1/4" pistol belt.

The knife was resharpened and the bits of the bolster I said were a bit sharp have been smoothed off.

Geoff also sent me some pictures of some of the folders he is making and they are lovely loads of different damascus patterns on both blades and bolsters, mamoth ivory and all sorts of burr woods for handle scales.

Bit out of my price range though as I think they start at £420

I am very pleased with both the knife and the new sheath - thanks Geoff & Waldorf ;)
