Glad you like the knife, J.

The Becker line, and all other knives from Camillus, have been discontinued since the Camillus factory closure.

You can sell the knife on ebay if you like.... it's your knife...but... you would have been better selling it here at BB if you decided it was not for you.

I know that at least one person was disappointed that they missed the sale of this knife.

What I do mind though, is the fact that you have copied my post at the top of this page, word for word, and pasted it into your Ebay auction.

I also mind that you did not ask if you could use my photographs for your sale.

Not much I can do about it, but, I decided that BritishBlades members should know what you are about.

I have remembered it fondly many times since...

Hmmm. Perhaps it would be good to ensure BBers don't bid against each other on this if any want it... Not sure how you would go about arranging it though.

at least he's started it at a low price.

i'm an oprimist so maybe he's thinking that it would be nice for some non BB members to get a chance to own such a nice blade.

not fair that he uses your post and pics though :(

Well... he paid £90 for it from here after some haggling... so I have to assume that he has set the reserve at £100 or more.

It's technically a breach of copyright to use your description and your pictures. I would suggest contacting ebay to ask them to pull the auction on this basis.

Obviously the buyer is free to do whatever he wants with the knife, but my purely private opinion is that it would have been more 'the BB way' to put the knife back in the classifieds here if it wasn't to the buyers taste after so short a period of ownership.

I reported the Ebay auction and it is now being "investigated".

I also contacted Jonny "the-hunted" through Ebay and let him know that I had brought this into the public forum here at BB.

I learned from this though.

When in doubt.... there is no doubt... De Niro said it better, but, it's true.

just playing the devils advocate a bit here:

this bloke is new( or at least i haven't noticed him posting much), and so may not fully understand the "BB way", we don't know where the reserve is at, it may be set at £50. Also, i just think that this sort of sniping is more at odds with theis place than flogging something on Ebay.

I understand soupmonger's upset that his copyright has been breached and i'm sorry for that, but he hsn't actually done anything against the rules or illegal and hasn't even been given the chance to ppst a " if anyone's interested then i'm selling this here" link.

I fully explained "the BB way" in a very long PM to this guy, after the sale, because his PM's came across as rude and impatient.

I'm calling out the guy who bought the knife... and by doing so... letting you ...and anyone else.. know that it's probably not a good idea to deal with him.

Not only is he using my words and my photographs without my permission, but, his Ebay auction makes it look like he was the one that did the work on the knife.

Hi folks

I don't want this to develop into a pile in against the seller, or fights between the guys I love.

Soupy has made it very clear he is unhappy about what happened. I agree with him, but that is my personal opinion and in no way reflects the position of BB.

The seller has chosen to shift his knife as he chooses. He is free to do that.

Let him sell his knife without hassle.

He's certainly burnt some bridges here.

Yea i know how you could be upset with him using your pics and text and all. BUT like others have said it is his property and he did pay you for it and one has to remember we don't know his situation. He could be havin money troubles and wants the best price for it so he can get himself out of debt or trouble. Don't get me wrong that I'm saying what he did was right as there is a very fine line. But it is now his knife and his property so he can technically do with it what he wills.

ah kk, just from readind the posts seemed that you, and others, were moreso anoyed at him for reselling it. And i know I may get shouted down for this, but is it such a big deal?? Like your pics are good and he prob thought he couldn't take better ones, but then supposed he shoudl have still asked you, but few people really think a lot about it. he didn't go about that the right way i can agree with but still talking about hijackin the auction is a bit extreme to me.

Sniping is just bidding... it is how things are bought on Ebay.

I don't know why this is so difficult for you to understand... and I've been overly repetitive in this thread.

Taking my text ...word for word... makes the Ebay auction appear as though it was the buyer that did the work on the knife.

I spent many weeks working on that knife...so yeah... it bothers me.

I also spent a quite a long time taking and editing the photos...so for them to be lifted without even a simple PM to ask if it was ok to use them bothers me too.

Feel free to step away from this thread, Pootsy.... it has become something that I did not intend.

yea, I know and like I said I don't agree with how he went about it and you do deserve credit because it is an awesome job and a lovely thing to handle. And he SHOULD have def asked you for permission, but it happens. I don't agree with how he went about it either and the description should have be changed to allow the credit were it is due.

ugug
13-10-07, 01:03 AM
errr.. sniping is not hijacking the auction.. it is me not being arsed to submit continuous bids and just setting a price with gixen to bid 90 quid two minutes before the auction closes.. if someone bids less than that then the hunted wins cause i pay him more.. if someone bids more than 90 then he still wins because my bid makes no difference and he has made a profit on reselling ...

thats not hijacking .. i want the knife to come back to a bb'er so the usage of soupy's images text and work is kept within the family ;) :)

Listen guys, enough is enough,
the reason i used the photos is because i do not own a digital camera...
How many other Ebay-ers use pics they do not take themselves?? im sure some of you have.
The reason im selling the knife is that i just bought a car and need the money....
The reason to sell on ebay was to get more money for it, plain and simple,
but yes, fair one, mabye using the text was a step too far, even if i havent broken any laws by doing it.
But I dont see the need for it to turn into a bit*ching session about the rightness or wrongness of selling something on ebay.
You want the knife back, thats fine by me, at the moment i just need the money more, as you can see on ebay i have sold an other that i own and my cold steel tiger on here and have been buying car parts.
If you want the knife back, thats fine by me, make me an offer....
(the ebay reaserve is £100 by the way)
But what i dont want is any more arguing, complaining, or bickering over it.
As someone else already said, life is to short for that...

i'd understand your annoyance at what you see as "bit*ching" but, people here give others very good deals and it is understood that these generous acts are passed back into the community, i'm sure if you'd have dropped soup monger a pm and explained then he wouldn't have minded.

shame it all went so out of control :(

i think you'll find a fair few threads in the commons discussing the making of profits around BB related purchasing /selling

.. my 90 squid offer won;t make the reserve so i'm out .. i would rather give the money to Soupy .. hope you make enough to buy the car parts

As I have repeated so many times in this thread... where you sell the knife, why you are selling it and how much you are selling it for is none of my, or anyone elses, business....it is your knife.

If you had asked to use my photos...I would have probably said "sure no problem"

But please change the wording of your Ebay auction.

There are no bids on it yet so you can "Revise" the auction without any charges and it would only take you a couple of minutes to do.
