Has anyone come across anything akin to a 25lb Little Giant in the UK?

No, but I'm currently building one (picked up the railtrack today;))

The Appalachian plans?

It occurred to me that given how prevalent the LG seems in the US, wouldn't we have had something similar here?

Also not looking at prices of ~£3k5 plus the installation of 3 phase would be nice :D

There was a British company that made a useful smallish triphammer, it's been mentioned on Anvilfire a few times but I can't remember the name. If you really need one take the pain and buy a new one from Vaughans, otherwise get a few beers in and get your mates to swing a sledge for you.

The Blacker is about the only one I've seen that will run on single phase. Getting 3 phase in here is such a nightmare, I can't get anywhere with it. The cost is prohibitive for what will likely be a short-term location.

I asked the guys there about the appalachian plan, but they never answered me.
I started to gather the stuff but no place to put the beast in my workshop yet
Well if you can get some precise plans, I'll be really interested to "trade" them
Good luck :biggthump

:yikes: Roger I have NO place :crying:

Colin, I made some mishmash and crappy plans' too but I'm worried about the wheel and the upper spring balance. It looks quite hard to adjust with the hitting mass and the motor.

:o dont worry if it's not clear, too hard to explain...

Steph, make the "center" post from box section, with a small(ish) amount of vertical movement, spring loaded (from below) attach the foot bar to this & then you have your adjustment;)

Definitely working :)

It can mash a 3" rod like putty down to 1/2" in one heat :yikes:
