Hi Everyone.
Just put a post up on the Northstar companion thread and as a longtime lurker felt very rude having not said hello to you all first!
I have learned loads from lurking here and on knifeforums and have to say, compared to other forums, on other subjects, that I frequent, it is always a breath of fresh air to be here with a friendly atmosphere and a distinct lack of egos and tall soapboxes!
I Live in Walton on Thames, Surrey, and work as an advertising photographer.
My passions are legion but include anything sharp!, bushcraft, esp wild foods, astronomy (anyone local who wants a night out with a 'scope bigger than they are, feel free) and guitar playing (blues, country, bottleneck slide).
I have had lots of hand me down knives till now but have had a Bark river Highland for a while now and love it. Dead easy to sharpen, spot on size, great edge retention and solid as a rock.
Have an order in for a Northstar with Joe, top bloke, but you knew that!
Can't wait!
I use cutthroat razors every day, well, every time I shave put it that way!
If you want to learn about sharpening VERY quickly, buy an old one, sharpen it and give it a go.
Its a painfull way to learn but you really learn :yikes:
I hope all is well with you folks, thanks for making this a great place to hang out,
Happy Monday,
Gav.
