Now that the Summer KITH is nearly finished. I thought (based on what Dana Acker said on CKD & the "viking striky thingy" thread)
What's everyones thoughts onna Iron In The Hat thingy type thing (anything except a knife)
Like the above mentioned viking thingy, or, for the kydex guys, a firesteel holder, or a badge, arrowhead, pouch in fact anything really
What's your thoughts?

Would a 12 inch nail be OK?
If someone can put tutorials online on how to make arrowheads please do.
If any success I'd love to use them for IITH.
:smashfrea LOL ! what about a 440c stainless horse shoe for the car ??
No.. honestly why not... but I'm a bit worried about the "anything" we could give a general influence or period of time ??

WEell, anything does pretty much cover it all, but how about "anything" that is blade related(ish)

Huh? .... how about a stainless :censored: (male chicken) ring?
personal items like that may need measuring to ensure a good fit.

I think I can do stuff like that :D

There is, no doubt, a whole market for that.
Worry when they ask you to use a bigger hammer.

Gives a whole new meaning to "tool steel".

Hmm,
I fancy seeing if my rayburn gets steel to forging temp, and if it does try an arrow head (I've made one longbow and have the stave to do 3 or 4 more when I find that precious thing time!)
Sounds good,

I have been thinking about this for a little while .... I like the idea of a "small metal trinket" IITH so people can have a go at arrowheads, strikers or even small blades without the need to get into full-scale knife and sheath mode.
No reason why we couldn't run a sequence of IITH events. Arrowheads, trinkets, badges....
Also nothing to stop the more adventurous KITH events being run at the same time.

an arrow head or 2 sounds good .. was thinking of using my scrap pieces of O1 to make some boradheads for my arrows .. or I could try a little mokumé piece ;)

Good point,
A few of us are putting two into the summer KITH so no reason in my mind not to run a Christmas KITH and IITH at the same time!

arnt broad head arrows illegal in the UK as they are designed for hunting and the hunting with bows is banded in the UK?

nope Chris, I spoke to Quicks about it last year and they said they don't sell them because they don't want to be seen promoting archery for hunting.. but that there is no actual law against making them or selling them.

A 12" by 12" sheet of purest Kydex?
Hmm. Belt pouch.... Arrowheads I've been playing with a bit. Badgers?

9" nails in my case :D
Sounds worthwhile.

Or a "downward spiral" or "things falling apart"?
How does this quote thing work?

Like that ;)
Same as HTML tags, [] open tag [/] close tag.
"Things falling apart" sounds particularly appropriate!

Sounds great guys, some good ideas knocking around here, now all it takes is for one of the guys that has nothing better to do, to organise it:D

Or two organisers for the IITH (not sure if SWMBO will let me play in that, forging in the kitchen maybe not a good idea!) and one for the Christmas KITH. My turn for a rest but they arn't that difficult to run!
Cheers

Lumps of Iron or Lodestone In The Hat : Lilith.
This started out as being "Iron In the hat", and was opened out to plastic in the very first post!
How about just calling it "lucky dip"?
I'm pretty sure I could come up with something, if there were no limits...
