Hi,

I've been making knives for about a year now, and so far I've only been doing cord wrap handles, I want to now start adding wooden handles, so could anybody point me in the direction of a reasonably cheap wood, that I can use to practise on.

Thanks

Any hardwood can be used for practising one, beech is widely avialable and cheap and used in a lot of knife handles

Or try to find a local cabinet maker, the guy up the road from me usually has offcuts very cheap or free that are plenty big enough for knife handles
