I must admit I have been guilty of lurking for a while, so I thought I ought to introduce myself.

I have been knife making as a hobby for two and a half years, and I have only finished six knives. All have been fixed blade, with three pattern welded (hand hammered) and one an 18 inch overall length kukri.

The knives I have seen on this forum have all been of fantastic quality, and are an inspiration to me to improve on future projects.

Anyway, hello to everyone, and thanks for a great forum.

Hi Duncan,
Doing this backwards...I saw your GP knife and kukri before I read your intro. Welcome aboard and hope you like it here. Those knives are beauties, and somehow do manage to look English. Being of the Scottish persuasion that's not something I say very often ...but I do mean it as a compliment!

Post more soon!

Thanks!
On reflection maybe I should have called it a British Kukri, especially as I am posting on British Blades. Would you Scots take offence if a Sassenach was to make a dirk some time in the future? Don't worry I wouldn't call it English.

I'll try to post more soon, but I am the slowest knifemaker on the planet, so don't hold your breath.

Not at all. As a lowland Scot I'm a sassenach myself (something the bulk of the Scottish population tend to forget....the Central Belt is mostly sassenach and the "redcoat" soldiers were mostly Scots...just not Highlanders) Scottish history is subject to the most appallingly juvenile misinterpretations and oversimplifications.....but it sells a lot of shortbread. Sorry...soapbox moment.

I'd love to see a Dirk. Maybe you should read a thread called "Forum Knife" where we seem to be settling on a Sgian Dhu as a BB production. I'm sure your tuppence worth (ahem...half groat...) would be much appreciated.
