Hi folks

The inaugural meeting of the East Midlands Cutlers and Collectors Union (EMCCU) will be held on the 5th December in Nottingham.

This will be an invitation only event so in order to attend (and save me having to trawl through the other threads) will you please post in THIS thread that you intend to attend and then PM me your address.

Please indicate whether you wish to pay £5 in advance to enter a raffle for a knife. Should we decide on a knife in advance or just let the winner decide on what they want? I favour buying one in advance and perhaps engraving it 'EMCCU 2004' or something similiar.

:thanks:

Danzo

..........and could this thread be kept just for your names and opinions on the raffle otherwise it defeats the point of having a separate thread from the others.

Please note that the EMCCU is not any sort of formal organisation but a mechanism to allow us to have a simple system of invititations along with a membership card system in case anyone has to explain themselves.

If we decide that it is a viable organisation we would need a separate website for news and announcements as there would be no direct link to BB.

:thanks:

I'll be there (already PM'd).
Pay in advance (let me know where to send spondooliks).
Decide on a knife in advance (fixed or folder fine).
Engrave it? Yeh, ok. Sounds good.

Don't know if anyone else has said this yet Danzo, but thanks for all the effort you are putting in to organise this event.

I'm in, who to send money to?

Danzo
18-10-04, 10:17 AM
OK folks, unless you have already sent me a cheque don't send any money yet. I'll just spend it!

Once everyone has signed up I suggest we take suggestions for what knife we buy to raffle, based on the available cash and then I'll post a poll to decide. I think we will have more than £100 but less than £150 so put your thinking caps on! It could be a production model or a custom. I personally have no problem with an attending maker putting one of their own up for the vote but if this makes any of you uncomfortable then mention it in your post here. I'll then order it, you lot send me your cheques and somebody who can engrave can do the honours.

Sound OK?

:D

Send no money now!

:D

Go to the EMCCU Meetup post in this forum, add your name, the PM your address to me. Then go to the Meetup knife raffle suggestion thread and er, suggest! You can suggest something of your own if you want and if it's chosen by the assembled horde you get paid for it, and perversely can also win it back I guess!

I do hope you're taking the p*ss Mr Gregory as across three threads the above venue is our objective and we carry it's image on the cross sight of the sails of our East Midlands ships.

Unless he suggests it and pays me I am not going to smack Guy. Ever.

I'll donate in a Loveless City Knife (http://lonewolfknives.com/store/pages/products-loveless-cityfld1.shtml) which is a legal EDC to the raffle so that would make it two knives in the raffle... that is if no one has the objection of me throwing in a knife to the raffle.

Dtalbot I think you have mine and Nikki info already.. if not let me know.

the link with the info is above... here is a picture:

Chux this is easily delt with:
Tell your Boss that you absolutly must attend a meeting of Knife enthusiasts, and that it is Imperitive that you teach a young lad how to hone some premium steel to a hair popping razor sharp edge with your ceramic rods, and i'm sure they will agree without question, I mean what boss would not recognise that this is essential for a healthy work/ life ballance? :D

Do you charge for this service Danzo? :bandit:

I see the seeds of a small 'cottage' industry being sown.... ;) :)

Just the cost of the phone call and the price of something warming to ease the lie from my throat...........

;)

It is now official and I will not be available at all over the weekend of the EMCCU meeting.

Shall I have a full size cardboard Standee made up which I can send up with Wayne D? It can have a tape recorder behind it producing random phrases. You'll never know the difference :bandit:

Chux, there may be one more chance, instead of you coming to the meet up why doesnt the meet up come to you, If we change the location of the meet to your work, then you can meet us all and see all the goodies.

I'm sure that your bosses wouldent mind if 25 or so blade weilding addicts all turn up and demand to see the man who keeps his brain in a jar!!!

OK I know it has been mentioned somewhere I think... but what time on the 5th is the meeting to be held?

I may not be able to make it to this meeting due to Nikki college the following Monday morning. She just made me aware of this.

Got 1 or 2 pm in my mind, certainly afternoon not evening. And if you do make it Joe I hope you'll have some mosaic pins and tubes with you as I need some.
