Great looker, lovely blade shape. Something of the Walker about it...
also there is something of the very expensive about it unfortunately - I can't get my head round blinged fallkies - seems aginst nature somehow :D
Not that this one is blinged, and I gues it only cost about £80 via the US - what am I talking about ( I need some dried frog)

I did do a search before I posted and couldn't find anything. Do you have a thread link?

I reported it's appearance back in march. :D http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52777
Now they are available. Looking good. If only Fallkniven would make a version with cocobolo handles...

Jos

I'd hoped you'd say something like that :)
What's the wood? Is it something spalted?

Don't know if it's spalted, but it's stabilised Danish Rowan.
Nice stuff - a little yewish, I thought.
I have been getting cheerier and cheerier about the idea of a full tang with no pins. Are the scales simply glued or is there a bit of architecture underneath? It's really convincing.

They're epoxied on only. I'm fond of an uncluttered look for personal projects at the moment. Shinken suggested nickel bolts, which would have looked handsome, but when I pressed for the 'clean look' he did some super secret hidden stuff to make the scales more secure.
I wonder if you could just glue one scale on, part drill through it, glue in a bit of metal and then glue on the other scale with a predrilled hole ready for it?
The clean aesthetic rules my roost at the mo' too

I recollect that hidden pins were part of Shinken's intended plan after I decided against the nickel bolts, but that there was some reason that the pins idea had to be abandoned, but for the life of me, I can't remember why that was. I know it would have been for a good reason, as Shinken knows his knife making 'onions', as they say.
I'm hoping to buy a Fallkniven folder and replacing the scales with rowan, as a companion to the fixed blade, but the PXL (trying to bring this back on-topic) would be too big, a Mod P perhaps.
I imagine that the PXL is large and strong enough to be a stand-alone knife that would do pretty much everything, except for really brutish stuff (Brutish stuff is what the modded S1 is partly intended for, though, with the swedge removed, it's surprisingly nimble at fine tasks).
Karel modded a ModP for me with yellow bone scales. Came out great. I had it to match a similarly scaled U2, but you got me thinking now about a Fallkie fixed blade to make up the family. This is a pest as I thought I had me heart set on an Idun

Yes, I remember the ones that he did for you, and lovely they are, too.
It was the covering of the pivot that was worrying me a little, but Karel seems to have found the solution. Cracking work! And thanks for that helpful URL to that thread.
I've wanted one from the Northern Lights range for ages, the Frey was the one I had my heart set on. Though, that seems to have gone on the mental back burner, in favour of a modded (re-handled) TK2 with a matching (re-handled) TK4. I've hankered after a large knife in 3G for a good while.
I take it it's the damascus Idun you had in mind?

It certainly does :D
I find myself drooling over this PXL the other day
Has anyone seen it in the flesh yet? I am guessing that it weighs a bit too :D Hope so anyhow
