For next year (to coincide with me finishing my bit of the BB collab knife:rolleyes: )

We need a Venue & a Bank holiday date

Suggestions for: A venue near you (pref central to all, East Mids?)

& A date (that doesn't coincide with too much else)

Suggestions for format to be dealt with later, based on venue & date:)

Any thoughts?

The fenland country fair is held just outside Cambridge on the August bank holiday Sunday and Monday. Moonraker knives are always there and I have alway's found it to be a grand day out . It is not a huge event but plenty big enough . Could be worth a thought for next year .

How about Chatsworth House Country Fair. It is usually on about the end of August. Never been so I can't say what it is like but have heard it's a pretty good day with a good variety of interests being catered for.

Anyone been before?

It seems a pretty central location and is pretty easy to get to.

What about shooting 2004, at Stoneleigh?
before it fades away completely :sadwavey:

Given the reports I've seen on Shooting 203 at Stoneleigh, I'm not certain... Less than complimentary.

In the general spirit of confusion - how about Hampshire?
No reason, other than I'm lazy. If I'm lucky, next year's CLA Game Fair will be down at Romsey again...

It`s a shame about the Stonleigh show, it really use to be
the premier show for knife enthusiasts, and all the top makers
did attend , don`t know whether its a lack of promotion? before I went to this years show the only definate attendee I knew would be there was Colin Cooper ( BOOKS & BLADES ) along with PaulD.
Even the shows website regarding knife makers/exhibitors was just not updated, it can add up to a long drive :drive: and a wasted journey and everyone`s a loser :sadwavey:

How about Leicester :)

Anyway, that wasn't the real reason for this post. It was to be the first person to use the "grouphug smiley" in context

:grouphug:

Bring on more smilies I say...

Orm.

If a show doesn't work out how about a Hammer-in type event, if any one of the member's has a field big enough to cope with a number of folk ?
I've seen these mentioned on US sites . It would mean quite a bit of effort from a number of people to set it up I guess. Well it's another idea .

After posting about Stoneleigh , Low and behold there is a write up on the stoneleigh and bisley shows in this months Gunmart and basically
the article says both shows had a very poor turnout! and that Yalex the organisers have ceased trading  and that the Stonleigh show may not be held next year :sadwavey:
Bad news for all knife fans!!!

Wayne, are you using those smilies as your sig on BF too?:buttkick:

Paul, I suspect this would be the best option (cheaper, a few tents inna field, Trusthouse for the wimps, not so much pressure for people to attend due to the cost of organising etc. etc. etc.)

& It's not a surprise to hear that Yalex may be folding, the partial phrase "inna brewery" come to mind:rolleyes:

I sincerely hope not. I'll remove all the smilies from the site if folks start abusing it.

Yeah, I know, I run a script ages ago called .htaccess which limits the sites that can link images to this one. There are very few on the list that people can cross-link. :) :D

Hehe! Sneaky huh?

Waldorf, your kidding, Yalex operate the game fair at Weston Park. If they've gone bust the Weston won't happen. Alan Woods was there 2 years ago, I found 1 of his flyers in my kit that I bought then (don't ask long story)

Really can't believe the West Mids Gamefair at Weston (or wherever...) won't happen with or without Yalex.
It's one of the few absolute bankers in the 'Gamefair calendar'.
Someone will take it up.

Yep
Chatsworth is usually a good one, fairly close to the M1 and M6 though a bit of a pain if you arn't car bourn as the nearest mainline railway station is about 6 miles away

If you can manage to get together in mid-June I may even be able to make it! London is always best, plus Dorset, but could possibly do some other city if close to an airport or major rail station.
