*SOLD*

I have a .44" calibre Uberti copy of the Colt Model 1860 Army. It has fired only 99 shots from new, and is in excellent condition. The purchaser will need an FAC with current variation for ".44 BP revolver."

It comes with a snail-type capper, a powder flask/measure & (I think it's still around somewhere...) a small quantity of Pyrodex "P".

Do not even think about replying unless you have the necessary FAC.

£95 OVNO.

If the purchaser takes both my Ruger 10/22T (see separate advert on this page) and the Uberti, the pair go for £400.

Hi Mirage, What does BTTT mean?

Arh, the old black powder! such fun, back to basics shooting, bits of old rag, melting lead on the gas stove!

My father had several "Highwaymans Pistols" and a rather stuck up, upper-class friend asked for a shot.... fired and said "needs more powder, stoke it up", so my Dad did.....about four times overload, Tony fired, lead went strait
through the barn and the stock spilt and the recoil sent a good sized splinter into his hand....all my Dad was saying was "don't drop my pistol"

Hi Mirage

Forgive me for replying without an FAC, but does a black powder gun require one, or are you just being very responsible? I have checked my learned tomes of Law and they seem a bit vague on the distinction between antique collectables and usable weapons, and frankly I know nothing about it.

I was once told by a mate who did reenactments that they were exempt. But he did drink his beer in the pub from a handmade pewter tankard modelled on his own head :240: so I always took anything he said with a pinch of salt!

:thanks:

Danzo, I think as a "modern copy" it does need a FAC. It is the old guns that you see on the likes of Antiques Roadshow that you are thinking of.

Well, the laws may well have changed since my days in reenactment, but back then, IIRC, the musket boys needed a shotgun licence and a black powder licence. To get these, I think you needed to chat to some police officer or a magistrate who would measure how close together your eyes were...

Smoothbore pistols were classed the same as the muskets, I believe.

Ophi, Keith, :thanks: I have called my tame magistrate who should be able to clarify.

Danzo,

Modern repros do need an FAC.

Ophidian,

BTTT = Back To The Top. Adding a "reply" to a post rotates it back to the top of the queue so that it zooms from page 226 to the top of page 1.
