Hi folks
I recently had the great good fortune to be loaned a Bud Nealy Y2K. I'll post up some Pics ASAP.
I'm not going to pretend that this is anything other than a tool for the darkest and most unpleasant of skills. It is a bat for com and nothing else.
But what a bat!
:approve:
I am going to review it on first impressions so you will need to go and see what steel it is made from. I suspect a tool steel but I'm no expert. The 4" blade is simply awesome. It is long, slim and has a false upper edge on the first inch and a half from the tip which just makes it look more threatening. It is really, horribly, scary sharp. It will punch through almost anything without the needle point being affected. It is very fast and usable in the hand. It throws really well.
The full tang is encased in two scales which I think are zytel but could be a patterned micarta. The fit to tang isn't 100% perfect, which surprised me, but it is close enough that you would only notice if reviewing. Or using it for it's purpose without gloves.......
;)
The blade and sheath are a symbiotic whole. The main sheath I had thought was a 'small of the back sheath' and I had developed an entire martial art based around that until two wiser practitioners of the dark arts in Guycep and Stephen 63 corrected me and told me it was in fact an inside suit pocket sheath.
:o
My idea works much better and allows the carrier to get to their wallet.
;)
The knife blade is actually concave to allow it to travel over the restraining magnets in the very tactical kydex sheath. It is a beautiful design concept. But as the Scandinavians have had sheaths for millenia which don't allow the knife to drop out when upside down I do ponder on the need for the magnets.
The sheath comes with a kydex attachment for belt and webbing attachment and a very strong paracord covered chain for neck carry.
I love this. I must admit that I do like a certain type of tactical knife, and this is a stormingly wonderful example. It is simply perfect.
