View Full Version : Sheffield Fillet Blade Only?

Does anyone know where I can get, if at all possible, a Sheffield made fillet knife blade that I can handle myself as a first project. Do any of the makers provide this?

I've seen a member here (I forget whom - please forgive my ignorance) sell or provide access to Green River Sheffield Made blades and some Nessmuks. Any Fillets?

I'd rather support our existing Sheffield makers if possible so I'd greatly appreciate any pointers.

If this isn't possible, I expect the Lauri stainless fillet knife blade from Brisa would be more than up to the job. A great price it is, too ;) !

He's also a thoroughly good bloke to deal with.
if there's one made by a Sheffield maker Andy will try and get hold of one for you

Rob

I've had some problems getting out to the factory to sort things out for a couple of weeks but hope to sort it out soon

Perfect! Magic! Woohoo! What a forum! :D

Fulltang too!

Right I've calmed down a bit so I'd be grateful if you could advise cost inclusive of delivery and rough idea of timescales, please.

Thanks, Andy! :D (....and all the others that suggested you).

I can't remember what they cost. Are you after carbon or stainless? (stainless costs more)
Carbon ones cost about the same as skinners I think

I don't mind, either. I'm happy enough to look after a carbon blade. What, in your opinion, is the best option for ease of sharpening and edge retention? Or are they much the same?

One other question - I fancy using copper bolts/pins/rivets to secure the scales (Canadian kiln dried Poplar, free from the Faither-in-Law!). Do you know where I could get some?

Thanks again for your help. :D

Sorry Andy, you'll probably be very, very busy but is there any news on this? Don't mean to pester you.

Really keen to get started - got the poplar rough cut from my Father-in-Law.

Thanks,
Graeme :)

Thanks, Andy. Thanks for completely and utterly ignoring me and my request after making a suggestion. Maybe others are happy with your service but I ain't.
