He didn't say he shot it.

Of course he may have, but in the US there is a large following for the sport of hog hunting with nothing but a large knife.

There we go again. I'm getting tired of this Anti-Busse bias on the forum :D :P

More seriously, I knew about boar hunting with a bow, with a revolver, even with a spear but had never heard of hunting WB with a knife. And since the biggest I ever shot was my first, 90kg, and since I can't remember having ever been that scared :O .
This one was 111kg, well done. But with a knife? you have to be mental :O :O :O :D

Having seen just how bad tempered a domestic pig can get, jabbing a knife into a wild pig and annoying it, has to be one of the craziest things I've heard of, my money would definately be on the pig.

They are a little easier to stick with a couple of good pig dogs hanging off them!

OK, this boar was had the wind knocked out of him by a solid shotgun slug, he was still angry and capable of either getting away or damaging dogs so I done the swift deed. By the way was in Europe last Saturday. :D We got 3 alltogether and about 5 got away.

As Mikesknives says they are easier to get to grips with and finish with a blade when there is a few dogs on them, ive done 4 or 5 with this knife now, its a handy size as it doesnt impede running climbing etc, but I think ill be looking for a bigger one in the future as the knife was boxing above its weight with this pig.

Anyone make sell them on the forum?

I notice the knife at hand is a has dagger shape to it. I have never used one to skin an animal and have been told that they are poor utlility knives. How did this one work if that is what you used to skin and process the pig? Did you find any drawbacks or was it just as easy as with a more traditional skinning knife?

I would say that knife was used for dispatching the animal rather than skinning it.

OT:
Can someone remove the policeman comments? All you need is google indexing the site and someone googling the keywords to end up here.
Would be a shame to see the site in the Daily Mail for the wrong reasons.

Nice dogs and congrats on the catch. I wouldnt go near a pig that size even with 2 dogs and knife :)

We're not in the business of tidying up like that. Someone said something very stupid, received a severe rebuke for it and apologised to all. It's better that his comments remain as a reminder of what is not acceptable behaviour round here.

If the Daily Mail can make something of that then good luck to us all, we'll need it.

Search youtube for 'hog hunting' youl see what hunting a boar with dogs and a blade is like(not for the faint hearted). Where do think the phrase 'stuck like a pig' came from.

Nice beast by the way, i bet your heart was going after that.
