Risked a fiver on this off fleabay, glad I did! 5 inch blade, 5mm thick, solid and well built, only unknown is edge retention but time will tell.

It was advertised as "new old stock", so age unknown, but it looks very Sheffield in the handle area and is etched "made in England", so I'm wondering if any of our members can tie it down to a specific maker?

From what I remember, a Katar is an Indian knife, like a push dagger?
No idea about the maker of your knife though.

Nice buy Zorro!
I've had a look at the sellers other items, he has a VERY similar knife (drop point though) marked up as J Nowill & Sons.
Katar a Brand of Nowills' perhaps?

thats a great deal for a fiver....even if it just last a year before needing something doing to it...
